Obviously an act of sheer vandalism has taken place at Levington Creek in Suffolk where the new fencing wire has been cut in 4 places this fencing was to protect the habitats there

Dog owners face unlimited fines for farm livestock attacks Police will have new powers to seize and detain dogs that have attacked or chased farm animals.

It would be good if similar legislation could be leveraged to ensure compliance with dog rules on nature reserves

Our beloved Barn Owl are gearing up for spring.

Pairs are bonding, and yes… they’re giving our recently installed boxes the once-over (no pressure, lads). Males are out hunting to impress. Romance, owl-style 🦉

We’re keeping everything crossed for a good year ahead.

We were at Love Our Planet Discovery Day at Christchurch Mansion today.

Tiny bones everywhere, wide-eyed kids, brave parents, and more “ooooh that’s a skull!” than you could shake a femur at.

Nothing says family fun like dissecting what a barn owl had for tea 🦉

Putting up owl boxes is brilliant – and we’re doing lots of that – but boxes alone aren’t enough. An owl box without good habitat is a bit like a house without a fridge… there’s nothing to eat! Rough grass, field margins and fewer poisons make all the difference 🦉🌾 @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social

SOSSwifts have ‘inherited’ the RH pile of buff and red coloured #Swift boxes, they have a 20mm stand off at the back for a bonus bat space too. We will happily donate these to #Suffolk locations where Swifts nest already, or next door. @suffolkwildlife.bsky.social @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social

The UK government didn't want you to see this report on ecosystem collapse. I'm not surprised | George Monbiot It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For ‘doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

Government’s wildlife targets will be missed in England, watchdog says Seven out of 10 targets have little likelihood of being met by 2030, Office for Environmental Protection says

Hugely depressing read, but no surprise, considering the destruction Sizewell C is allowed to inflict on a supposedly protected landscape

This roof hosts Starlings in spring, Swifts in summer & House Sparrows year round. The RHS house has just been re-roofed to modern standards & anti-bird combing can be seen under the new tiles. Valuable nest space lost, so nest boxes added. @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social @suffolkwildlife.bsky.social

Fantastic to have the 2024 Suffolk Bird Report land in the door mat. Swifts obviously checked first. 379 nest boxes were used in 2024, up from 272 in 2023 and 231 in 2022. We are chasing up data for 2025, please do let us know your records. @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social @suffolkwildlife.bsky.social
