Today I spoke in Parliament to congratulate Dorset Wildlife Trust and local people on their incredible efforts to secure Upton Heath.

I asked the Prime Minister to demonstrate his commitment to nature and to legislate to extinguish historic planning consents.

This one certainly looks like a red spotted, hard to know whether the previous bird was just in moult or a white spot.

3 eagles circling low at kimmeridge yesterday, unfortunately not the best light for photos but still the first time I’ve been able to photograph them with my camera! From what i could see they all looked like juveniles #dorsetbirds #ukbirding

Male wheatear.

Male wheatear.

Singing stonechat.

Singing stonechat.

Very windy at dawlish warren today, the highlights were at least 5 wheatear and 2 beautifully plumaged little grebes on the pond. Also 10+ sandwich terns, single red throated diver, reed buntings, curlews, stonechats. Feels like spring despite the wind!

BBC headline utterly failing. ‘The saga of a £165m rail line that keeps causing travel chaos’

It’s not the rail line that “keeps causing travel chaos” its the shifting climate with more prolonged and intense rainfall and more frequent storms leading to landslips and the sea wall being washed out.
