"History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for."

This is awesome, Abra. My adult kids’ housemates, of which they’ve both had several, wouldn’t know which end of a mop is up. Everything, cleaning the toilet, is up to my kids. The job I failed at was teaching them enough assertiveness to sit said roommates down and talk through a fair strategy
Dust motes float, gold sea monkeys.

Haiku
by Tea Towel
Why am I thus named?
I wipe not high tea spills
But lowly dishes
#haiku
Especially for the stool.
The look Josie gave me—half-lidded eyes, jaw twitching, skin patchy red— #disarmed me. If she hated me this much now, we’d never make it to our first anniversary. Darn. So promising, that week we dated before our drunken Vegas impulse. I sighed. Time to sharpen the axe already. #vss365
Or a stool’s errand?
Rosy morning sky
Icy branches drip, drip, drip
Robins dart for worms

Actually, I think he stuck his head out and said, “Seriously? The weather is what you’re phucking worried about?”
The calming tea I drink to calm my anxiety gives me anxiety when I drink it because it reminds me of why I drink calming tea.

If I told you my #friend worked with lice,
would you shiver and say nothing nice?
Or say without ice,
“Not to nitpick or splice,
but they all look like small blobs of rice.”

She grabbed the inadequate hotel #umbrella. Rain slicked down the streets and skyscraper towers, washing away the dust and turning it all into a cyberpunk vision of the future that shoulda been, maybe even briefly was, before it all got locked to stop the peaceful terrorist protests. #vss365 #sff
“Do pussyfoot here, through the aciculate eglantine, and use the baldachins provided.”
“Sorry, what?”
“Good lord, education these days. I said, tiptoe through the thorny sweetbriar here, and use the #umbrellas provided.”
“I got all that. But isn’t a baldachin more of an awning?”

My favorite! He rubbed his money-swollen hands together. An #empty suit to run some part of the government neither one of us understands. #vssdaily

love
we try to #conjure
with an app’s allure
swipe left, swipe right,
to find something sure
but love is not pixels,
it's not neat or pure.
love is the mess, the ache,
the pain, and the cure

Thank you, Haiku Foundation, Sherry, and Zoe, for selecting my poem for the Dreams— Future and Past— long list. Congratulations to all of the other poets who were also chosen.

Terrible pain he #conjured, burning stabbing flickering pain, constant as stars. She wished for sweet nothingness, but could not speak to beg him for it.

Sunlight in the tops of tall Douglas fir trees in a forest.
The tall Douglas fir trees, their crowns lit by sunlight.
Today's trip into nature. My spirit rising like the Douglas fir trees crowned with sunlight. Saw and heard a few woodpeckers but not any owls.

This has wings, the sparrow chirped.
The #fawn, the rabbit, and the groundhog debated lunch.
The fawn bleated, "Do be a deer and fetch me some clover."
The rabbit thumped, "I'm not your floppy-eared forest flunkey."
The groundhog chitted, "Do I look like a gopher? Last time, I did it for five bucks—but they never paid me."
