My students are making some stunning parametric and polar art. To help them, I share the wonderful website mathcurves and was pleasantly surprised when a student used a fish curve to make a fish. How cool is this curve?

Incredible
Awesome! Can you share a bit about how you used Excel to make this?
This is great! Where can I find more problems like this?
Math teaching prep highlight: having blue and red colored math expressions combine and mix to purple!
…I spend too much time on this stuff, but I share the intent with students and it makes them laugh.

This work is really impressive. Thanks for sharing!
Any thoughts on a precalculus spirograph project? I'd love to start working on one!

Tomorrow, I get to help students analyze epicycloids and hypocycloids! Here we come spirographs! I am including the graphs they get for reference (I had fun making them on Desmos!)

Polygonal sine waves. I love this and am excited to show it to students. It helps students recognize that the trig we cover in school is just the beginning.

Ah!! Got it. Do you ever use other notation for this?
Sometimes I do T(-2,3) or something similar. I even have students use arrows as well, like ⬅️2, ⬆️3…
Great idea.
What does the notation in column 3 represent?
That is great. I’m going to try this!
Happy Monday everyone!
The product to sum trig identities are awesome!
I find it amazing that sine and cosine waves combine in these ways and love that we can tie it back to the sin(A+B) and cos(A+B) identities for students. Wow!

Tried the prompt below before showing sinusoids in a Ruben's tube. Then we watched this quick video: youtu.be/_8KjE7MQHXM?...
I want to convince students that anything that oscillates might be modeled with a sinusoid. They are everywhere!

Great idea, I’m thinking to reverse the numbers next and then repeat for Geometric and Harmonic sequences! Gonna use this for sure!
The expression (2x+1)/5 between -4 and 4, so the interval for the expression (2x + 1)/ 5 is less than 8, but the interval for x is less than 19/2 + 21/2 = 40/2 = 20:
?/5 > -4 when ? > -20, so 2x + 1 > -20 and x > -21/2
?/5 < 4 when ? < 20, so 2x + 1 < 20 and x < 19/2
I posted this a while ago, but this is still my favorite way to prove the addition identities for trig. What are your favorite approaches?

Exploring Islamic Constructions in Geometry and am considering incorporating Geogebra!
Here is the 12-pointed star with a focus on dynamic color. Thinking about what else students might like to do!

I used Spinning Wheels and the kids laughed out loud. It was just too goofy and perfect. Good call!
What a great choice. I will use this for something in class for sure!
Great choice. Especially with the black background!
You know…that is so perfect. I am going to use it. I’ve just got make just theta spins to the beat!
I love spinning the functions around the unit circle! I will show this one in class and find it relaxing to watch. The only question is, what song should I play as we spin the circle?

I love that!
Teaching trig on the xy plane and “All Students Take Calculus” came up. I’m ready for a new phrase. I’ll have a contest with my students to create their own phrases.
Any ideas?

Wow. Just wow!
As a person who makes sure to carry tissues at all times, I am glad you have something that doesn't make you sneeze!
Anyone else still using chalk? I am one of the last at my high school and love it.
If only I had sliding boards…one can dream.
