Five colour orienteering map, 1:10000. As usual with Dave Gittus' maps the surrounding land is filled in with yellow for the fields. There are two small woodlands, both mostly runnable. Used as a warm up for the JK event Easter 1981.

The western half of the Beaudesert map used for the two classic races at the 1981 Jan Kjelstrom Orienteering festival. Very runnable forest with lots of spurs and reentrants with a few big clearfell area. Now a popular mountain biking venue and still used for major orienteering events.
Beaudesert 1981. The other half of the #JK map used on the first day of the event. In those days there were two long distance classic races and a replay in the prestigious race. #OldOrienteeringMaps #Maps #Orienteering #CannockChase Cunning #Running #WaltonChasers

Grassed over quarry workings behind Salisbury Crags. There are some young trees on the right and a view towards a big hill with a notch like pass on its right. The hill has a lot of scrub vegetation. Into winter sunlight
Bill Gauld's #HolyroodPark, 1975. A map which was used for many years. When surveyed, the park was still grazed. Fewer whins and not many trees. #OldOrienteeringMaps #Edinburgh #Orienteering #Maps #EUOC

This is our very popular Ultrasprint event which this year is at Davidson's Mains Park & The Royal HS on Sunday 17th August.
Run three short (~1.5k) orienteering courses around the park each of which will visit a maze, constructed out of tape and fence posts, at least once.
Busy and very hot day at Gracemount Mansion and then in the playground of Gracemount Primary with the Discover group. A very lively bunch who got stuck into the maze and then the CluedO Score and Photo-O. Great to see so many great maps decorating the school playground.
