Not many cities make use of the third dimension quite as effectively as Edinburgh. Our picture shows Arthur's Seat, with the top of Salisbury Crags in the foreground, Both are in Holyrood Park in the heart of the city. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Looking down from a rocky crag on the edge of crow hill to Duddingston Loch and the surrounding wetlands. Sections of the low and high roads are visible, with two small people and two smaller dogs near the middle. A filter has been applied giving the image washed out but warm tones, emphasising the burnt scrub on the hillside

A scenic view of St. Margaret's Loch and Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, Scotland. The loch, occupying the lower third of the frame, reflects the warm sunlight and surrounding landscape. Numerous birds dot the surface of the water, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. Above the loch, the landscape ascends into Arthur's Seat, a prominent hill characterized by its rugged terrain and sparse vegetation. On a peak, a ruin, identifiable as Saint Anthony's Chapel, is silhouetted against the bright sky. The color palette is dominated by hues of green, brown, and teal, enhancing the natural beauty of the scene.

What a monstrosity. Hopefully it'll do its job properly and stop rockfalls landing on folks' heads. Will also solve the knotty problem that's out on consultation - there will be no vehicular traffic going this way any time soon. #Samson'sRibs #HolyroodPark #Edinburgh

This morning, along the
Low rd by Duddingston noticed a large flock of small birds making their way through trees and shrubs in reserve, they then made for the scrub
between the low and high rds.

Picked this up at #EdinburghBookFestival yesterday & felt it apt to start under the afternoon sun in #HolyroodPark.
Irrespective of any opinion re #NicolaSturgeon, it’s accessible, compelling & candid. Almost halfway through already.
And, FWIW I reckon the title is a wee nod to JaneyGodley - nice!

Fire crews had attended Sunday's massive fire on Crow Hill #HolyroodPark for 24 hrs and were still there when I took these photos y'day pm. Still smouldering in places, while the crew attended one fire another would pop up. Not much wildlife will have survived this. Bravo #ScottishFire&RescueService

It's fairly late for a northern brown argus, but that does mean it's not autumn yet. Spotted today in Holyrood Park.

Photo mostly of golden coloured wild grasses in seed, backlit on a sloping hillside. In the background a dark silhouette of part of Salisbury Crags with a sole small person standing on the skyline. The sky is cloudy, mostly grey but a bright patch lit by the sun and a small section of blue.

A shrew in grass with a fat caterpillar in its mouth. The shrew is a small rodent with short brown hair, small ears and a pointed snout. The body of the caterpillar is pale pink with small black spots. It has a pale head with maroon "eyes" (ocelli).

A common shrew with a dark arches moth caterpillar. We were thrilled to watch the shrew hunting for several minutes, rooting around at the base of clumps of grass. The pursuit of the caterpillar took a while, but it looks like it was worth the effort. #HolyroodPark #UKWildlife

Edinburgh 5k in the books! 22:43 finish, so not the PB I was hoping for, but that first hill around Arthur’s Seat is brutal (plus a headwind). Rumour has it there’s a half marathon penciled in for next year… #Edinburgh5k #5k #running #HolyroodPark
