Fish folk - have you ever heard of old (18thC) name Mylwell or Melvell?๐ŸŸ @oceanspast.bsky.social @thefsbi.bsky.social @projectfishistory.bsky.social @leafyhistory.bsky.social

Apparently sometimes applied to cod, but not in this context (as named alongside, along with ling, conger, hake and bream)

Inside the FSBI - FSBI PhD Student, Rebecca Bentley
Inside the FSBI - FSBI PhD Student, Rebecca Bentley Rebecca Bentley is an FSBI funded PhD student at the University of Bristol, working on the evolution of ecomorphology in armoured catfish (an adaptive radiation of over 1,070 species). In this video, she focuses on how jaw shape is linked to diet and other ecological factors, but constrained by phylogenetics. With some phenomenal micro-CT images of these charismatic little catfish, we get a glimpse into the anatomical features Rebecca is examining as part of her PhD.

A new installation of #InsideTheFSBI! We hear from FSBI PhD Student, Rebecca Bentley, who is based at the University of Bristol. Rebecca talks about her work on jaw shape in armoured #catfish and how it links to #ecological factors like diet, but constrained by #phylogenetics. Some amazing #microCT!

Stop using stylised italics (Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols) in scientific social media posts. Decorative characters make content inaccessible to those using assistive technology.

When Publishers use forced italics (e.g. ๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘Ž๐‘™๐‘–๐‘๐‘ ) in their social media posts, it makes the content less #accessible. You have a duty of care to your audience. Please stop.
