Fellow blue house enjoyer here, love it!
NEW: The unfathomable Minnesota transcript that must be read, as it tells the reality of America today.
"I am not white, as you can see," Julie Le — a government lawyer — told a federal judge on Tuesday. "And my family's at risk as any other people that might get picked up too ..."
Law Dork:
This is, by no exaggeration, one of the biggest barriers to actual mobilizing rn. People are engaging in both play and misinformation over what they believe is proper and necessary vetting and training for e.g. RR to the point it is a literal catch-22 for concerned neighbors who try to get involved
Amy, what the hell?
look what they’re doing to my beautiful city. this is bovino’s massive armed convoy, rolling through the Wedge, one of the nicest, friendliest residential areas in Minneapolis, doing nothing but posturing, starting fights, and then deploying chemical weapons at a park many children play in
Three helicopters seen over North Minneapolis, from Saint Paul. Only two showing up on ADS-B.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.
The shutdown put incredible strain on so many families and dedicated civil servants, but at least it was all for fucking nothing.
Very excited to be at American Society for Microbiology #ASMicrobe meeting. I’m here with a large suitcase of, what could it be? Science swag and also just science. Come talk to us about transforming the future of #metagenomics and #phage research.

Inaugural post on BlueSky! We’re here to share our latest news and connect with you. Give us a follow and help spread the word!
Today's the day! Minnesota, let's show up and make our voices heard to support science!
Goosebump producing news this week out of Oregon Health and Science University in the diagnosis of pancreatic CA.
They developed a groundbreaking blood test, called PAC-MANN. This new test can find pancreatic cancer in just 45 minutes, even in its earliest stages.
Dr. Wolfe-Simon has long-deserved a "redemption" story, and there was never any sin to redeem anyway. The arsenic bacteria paper will always be one of my favorites, regardless of conclusions. Science shouldn't punish anomalies, that's where all the fun is! #arseniclife
It has been brought to my attention that my article has been censored to exclude certain terms:

BREAKING: Federal judge in Rhode Island formall blocks the Trump spending freeze, saying the actions likely "violate the Constitution and statutes of the United states."
Judge cites @PressSec statement as primary cause for concern:

Check out our paper on genetically barcoded flies! The barcodes enable multiplexed behavioral assays that are read out by sequencing or can be expressed tissue-specifically to tag cells upstream of single cell transcriptomics. Artwork below by @mdonox.bsky.social - includes a scannable barcode!
Really disappointed in Target's recent decision to pull back on diversity programs, and I stand w/ Twin Cities Pride in telling them enough is enough. If you want to support Pride, you can donate to their "Fill the Gap" fund which is already halfway to its goal. tcpride.org
One concern I've heard for long-read #metagenomic sequencing is the amount of DNA needed.
New Ampli-Fi protocol from #PacBio now allows as little as 1ng input for library prep - that's kind of a game changer for low biomass samples.
jk I lied I'm well over 40k
I don't have the fancy app, but I think we're pretty close to tied this year!
Dissing and defending and arguing about peer review – hot takes and take downs – that's what I'm here for. SciTwitter we are so back! 💕
