This composite photograph features a warm, close-up portrait of Margaret Eleanor Atwood (born November 18, 1939), the internationally acclaimed Canadian author, poet, and literary critic widely regarded as one of the most influential writers of the late 20th and 21st centuries. In the main image, the older Atwood gazes directly at the viewer with a gentle, knowing smile, her short curly gray hair softly framing her face. She rests her left hand against her cheek in a relaxed, contemplative pose, wearing a dark top accented by a patterned gray-and-yellow scarf. The solid black background isolates her face and upper torso, creating an intimate and timeless studio portrait. Overlapping in the lower right is the iconic black-and-red cover of her 1985 dystopian masterpiece The Handmaid’s Tale, showing the famous red-robed figure with a white winged bonnet and the bold text “THE #1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER” and “MARGARET ATWOOD.”

No words for the depth of this man’s lack of integrity or human decency. What ever your beliefs this is just a fundamental lack of respect for others.

A side-by-side composite of two iconic black-and-white vintage photographs featuring legendary prima ballerina Maria Tallchief. Left image: A glamorous close-up portrait of Maria Tallchief in an elaborate, exotic stage costume. She gazes to the side of the camera with intense, captivating eyes enhanced by dramatic makeup—bold eyeliner, defined brows, and long lashes—her lips in a poised, sultry expression. Her head is crowned by a massive, towering headdress of voluminous white feathers secured by a jeweled or beaded headband sparkling with intricate details. She wears an opulent, heavily embellished bodice adorned with sequins, rhinestones, large gem-like accents, fringe, and metallic elements across the shoulders, arms, and chest. Her hands, decorated with multiple stacked bracelets and rings, are posed crossed elegantly near her chin in a theatrical, commanding gesture. High-contrast lighting accentuates the luxurious textures of the feathers and jewels against a deep black background. Right image: A breathtaking full-body action photograph of Maria Tallchief captured mid-air in a soaring grand jeté leap during a ballet performance. Her body is extended in perfect dynamic split: one leg powerfully thrust forward, the other trailing behind, arms gracefully outstretched (one forward, one back) for classical line and balance, head tilted upward with eyes closed in focused, ecstatic poise. She wears a fitted leotard and tights featuring bold black-and-white geometric crisscross or striped patterns across the torso and limbs, creating a striking modern abstract design, paired with a short, fluffy layered tulle tutu skirt that flares outward in motion. Her hair is pulled into a tight classical bun, and she points fully in pointe shoes. Soft, diffused lighting and a neutral gray background highlight her exceptional athleticism, extraordinary extension, technical precision, and elegant artistry.

Maria Tallchief was America's first major prima ballerina & the first #NativeAmerican to hold the rank.

Together with Georgian-American choreographer George Balanchine, she is widely considered to have revolutionized American #ballet. She died #OTD in 2013. #dance #NativeSky

A black-and-white historical photograph of Elizabeth Bugie, a pioneering biochemist, working in a laboratory. She is shown from the waist up, wearing a short-sleeved white top and focusing intently on her work.

She has dark, shoulder-length hair and is holding a piece of glassware connected to a black rubber tube, seemingly adjusting a filtration or distillation setup. Several Erlenmeyer flasks and glass funnels sit on the bench in front of her. In the background, shelves are filled with numerous glass chemical bottles of various sizes, and a window with multiple panes is visible to the right.

Waksman went on to win the 1952 Nobel Prize for Medicine & took full credit for the discovery. Bugie died #OTD in 2001. #WomenInSTEM #MatildaEffect (1/2)
