#ElNiño outlook is encouraging for wetter conditions in late 2026–2027. Long range forecasts also point to an active summer monsoon season in the Four Corners. 🤞🌩️

Likely birthed in the Oort Cloud hundreds of thousands of years ago, Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) emerges into view. Captured Friday morning at the #edge of dawn. 🥱

A small adobe church with a bell tower and white crosses sits at the end of a gravel path in a rural mountain setting. In the foreground, a stone cross and a fenced grave adorned with flowers mark a simple cemetery. Scrubby vegetation and scattered rocks surround the grave and path with tree-covered mountain ridges rising in the background beneath a partly cloudy sky.

A museum display of Native American woven baskets arranged on blue pedestals, featuring large and small jars, bowls, and trays with intricate geometric patterns in natural tan and dark brown fibers. Behind the display is a black and white photograph of an indigenous woman weaving a basket outdoors, providing historical context for the craftsmanship. Labels identify the pieces as works from Apache tribes.

Jicarilla and Western Apache tribe baskets at the Millicent Rogers Museum in Taos represent generations of knowledge shaped by land and tradition. A macro image of a piece of petrified wood which is part of the Royal Ontario Museum's mineral collection.

The concentric rings of the original tree are visible in the brown, fossilized remains. Opal deposits have formed in what were presumably cracks in the wood. At the angle the image was made, the opal is primarily blue with some milkier white spots and flashes of green fire.

Petrified wood with opal inclusions. Opal is by far my favourite gemstone; I think the fire is mesmerising.

Thanks Mike. Using QDslrdashboard makes it a lot easier than doing it by hand. Looks like aurora might happen tonight. Seeing reports on aurorasaurus. One positive about the heat- clear skies.

Such joy! Yet, even in midair, the pup’s focus stays on the handler watching for the next cue, and where the next move, begins.

Very creative! After years of diligent training by my wife, the first thing I notice is the toilet paper hanging the
'wrong' way. Now I can tell her “under” was pre-ordained. 😄

Great poem, Mike. A beautifully written metaphor for coexistence and compassion. Something we need in these times. Thanks for sharing.
