Where can I look at searchable digitised French-language incunabula/early prints? Currently using Gallica but finding the OCR a bit unreliable. #bookhistory #medievalsky any pointers appreciated.

From 1869, the most enjoyable novel read thus far in 2026. You can't go wrong with the crazy world of May Agnes Fleming!

Catalogue of British and American book plates bequeathed to the British Museum by Sir Augustus Wollaston Franks : Howe, E. R. J. Gambier (Edward Russell James Gambier) : Free Download, Borrow, and Str... This material has been provided by Royal College of Physicians, London. The original may be consulted at Royal College of Physicians, London

The arms are described as Symons impaling Miles, which is what I suspected (though not in those exact words given my poor grasp of heraldic terminology!).

William Hales Symons married Milly Miles on 23 Dec 1809 at Clifton St Andrew; witnesses were Philip Miles and Eliza Miles. I suspect she was "Sarah Milly Daughter of Philip & Elizabeth Miles (born 24 Decemr. 1784)" baptised 4 March 1785 at Clifton St Andrew.

Milly may of course be Emily or Mildred etc, and it's already difficult with just a name in the first place... maybe people interested in #heraldry can find out more?

I'm sorry to have only just discovered @crowdsourceherbook.bsky.social, so this is a bit late to the party, but here's one of my books previously owned by a woman - in this case Milly Symons, about whom I can find almost nothing, except another of her books for sale on ebay in the US. #bookhistory

Wonderful, thank you for sharing! afaik there's not that much research on 19th century book plates, and I only got two or three in the submissions from what I remember.
