Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.

There's just gotta be a line somewhere.

Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.

#WIPSnips “So what did you do with then?”
“I wanted to get a look at it in good light, but of course the lights were all out and—this was the one thing I overlooked—I didn’t have a lantern handy. So I thought, ‘What could be better than seeing the actual arch through it?‘”

I hear you. I've seen the Chesapeake Bay described like it was the Louisiana bayou, and people keep insisting that Kansas is covered with a solid carpet of corn. (Curse you, Rodgers and Hammerstein!)

#WIPSnips Arkhöa began frantically struggling, the rope chafing her skin. Murenzi stood there watching, his face invisible.
“Um… do you need anything?”
“Thanks, but I got this.”
Her life had definitely taken a turn for the strange since a week ago last Starsday…

a man is walking through the snow with a briefcase . Alt: Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi), wounded from being recently shot in the face, is walking through the snow with a briefcase full of money that he's going to try to hide in a place where he would have almost no chance of ever finding it again even if he weren't about to be killed with an axe and his body run through a woodchipper. As he says to the parking lot attendant, "These are the limits of your life, man."

Oh, ya. I can't think of a movie that makes crime look less appealing.

#ConlangApril I once got started on a conlang for a setting for a novel still in limbo. It did have a rule that syllables start with a consonant, and end with either a vowel/diphthong or one of a select group of consonants. There were 931 possible syllables.

7. How seriously do they take time travel?

#TimeTravelAuthors They're serious, but not always cautious. One of the first things Gary does is try to force a paradox just to see what happens.

#AprilWorldbuilders Good news—Grand Harbor has sewers and street cleaners.
Bad news—Grand Harbor has many draft animals of several species, few of which can be trained to hold it in until they get to a rest area. So the street cleaners are always sort of playing catch-up.

#AprilWorldbuilders To our eyes, the architecture of Grand Harbor would appear to be an eclectic mix of East, South, and Southeast Asian styles, along with a dour, high-ceilinged, obsessively symmetrical style that doesn't quite look like anything we'd recognize.

Gary plays video games, but it doesn't come up much.
Lock is into track and field, especially any event that involves sprinting.

For me, it wasn't the taste. It was the texture.
The horrible, horrible texture.
When you're a kid, there are very few ways to make ice cream suck, and this was one of them.

Lock usually drinks Coke or Pepsi.
Lucy drinks her coffee with enough sugar and creamer to make it technically a dessert.

#WIPSnips “By the seven empty thrones. By the maidenhead of Queen Mhenggaw. By the pike orchards of the east. By the tainted temples of the south. By the princely banners of the west. By the cruel camps of the north. By the flames that torched a thousand ships. By Kahran and the beach of bones.”

1. Rainwater collected in barrels. This won't last you the whole year.
2. Waxy purple starheart leaves can be woven into mats that crystallize out salt from seawater. Time-consuming.
3. The Aqueduct, a marvel of modern engineering. It cost a lot to build, so the water isn't free.

#AprilWorldbuilders First, there's the Republic, that governs the cities that make up Grand Harbor and the surrounding archipelago. It's not very strong.
There's the city governments, which are stronger but have to compete against each other.
Then there's the Azure Order, which is really in charge.

#AprilWorldbuilders Gotta go with Grand Harbor. At 2.5 million people, it's the greatest and most diverse city beneath the arch. It's actually a city-state with several municipalities.
It is the headquarters of the Grand Coalition, a multinational alliance opposed to the Black Banner.

#WIPSnips “This is a peaceful expedition!”
“He just dropped a flare practically on top of us!”
“Those aren’t weapons, fool,” said the doctor. “Anyway, you might as well put that away. He’s gone.”
“You don’t understand, doctor. That was a signal, to let them know where we are. This is a trap.”

"Knock knock."
"Who's there?"
"Noah, Buddy…"
"Noah who?"

"And Buddy who?"

"Hello?"

"Hey, Gary, could you come over here? I need your help figuring something out again."

There are many things in this country that can and should be reformed.
But at this point, anyone still working for ICE has been self-selected for lawlessness. There's no way to reform that. Get rid of the damn thing.

#MarchWorldbuilders One of my characters, Lonotun, is gay. This isn't a problem for him in his country until after the war, when the aristocracy of which he is a part has been almost wiped out, and people are like, "Look, I know it's not how you swing, but we really need some upper-caste babies."
