Day 29: #MarchWorldbuilders
Hmm, good question. I'd love to dive into some questions about magic systems and natural magics.

I am pretty new to this still and have been enjoying the prompt-games i have been participating a lot! Maybe some more character-focussed prompts would be interesting. There are probably many of these out there already though...

This was super fun! Thanks for putting it together, Kira of the Wind. 🌬️❀️

I always enjoy questions about writing and building worlds. So keep it upπŸ‘

Personally I'd love to see some prompts relating to how our worlds function, if that makes sense? One of the best parts of fantasy worlds is that they don't necessarily operate on real-world logic, and it's always fun seeing how other authors reinterpret natural phenomenae.

Morality in Theryl is often defined by how well one follows the specific edicts of their patron deity. Some nations will put more emphasis on punishing certain crimes the others, though.

Probably something based around history or tome.

From oneself and history. Solarian humans are brutal towards themselves about the devastation of Earth.

No other species destroyed their own world.

If it comes to an ethical choice, humans will always defer to a Mycelial if it impacts others.

Hello, friends and #MarchWorldbuilders! Although I'm pretty satisfied with what I have for the year, are there any themes you'd like to see a prompt game about? Even if I don't host it, it might give others examples or ideas for things they can do!

Morality isn't a thing for faeries. Inasmuch as an outsider might describe some things they do - like their breathtaking social safety net - as moral, it derives from their understanding of social contracts. That, and an awareness of consequences in a world where there aren't

Partially from religion / the gods' teachings, partially from trial and error; everything that helps with humanity's survival as a species is automatically considered moral.

Elissenes would say it comes from natural laws the Mother wove into creation, and most other religions would say the same of their own gods. Tyrists would point to the cosmic order, which predates and binds even the gods.

The portal-builders did play a significant role on this. When they connected the 7 Worlds, they did convey certain societal norms and civilatory structures along with the common language they introduced. They did not issue them by force, bur rather inspired the worlds.

Most Nixtralians derive the framework of morality from a mix of the laws & religions prominent to their realms. Some religions have gods who oversee the concept of morality, but often the people tend to interpret those beliefs & laws in their own way.

Kindred of the Sea - in the Valor Alliance, morality comes from the gods & requires obedience to those who speak for them.

In Elethri - well, how you see these things is a private matter. From your own heart? From God? Still private to you as long as you respect other's rights.

Day 28. Morality.

Some are derived from religion, laws, loved ones, or themselves. Depends on the characters.

Characters reveal themselves by their moral choices. Some of the most important writing moments are there.

You can say that in Nequinum, morality is derived from all; spirituality, laws, oneself, humanism, community, learning, storytelling, etc.

There is no one source where all morality is derived from.

Religion and law went hand in hand to give the people a moral framework. After religion stopped being important, things were understandably chaotic, ending when many of the old laws were rewritten to fill that hole.

1/ The dominant ethic is imperial economics: worth = productivity. Good = compliant. Safety = funded. Suffering = acceptable overhead. Institutions treat empathy as inefficiency. Public virtue is optics.

AElit is a theocracy, so morality is defined by both religion & the law. The Teuchos (holy book) is the primary source, followed by the High Priest/Temple's interpretations (& any visions/divine messages they've had). All subject to review by the Aristan Court as needed.

In Ungovernables, morality can be derived from many different places. For Jamie, morality comes from the law. For Rylen, it comes from himself and being a good role model for his family and friends.

#TheDragonblood: Deiuoreks makes the laws that people must obey or have their souls devoured after death.

The other gods may make declarations that fill in the gaps, that people may choose to obey or not depending on how important they view what that god says. (1/3)

28. Morality in Re: Shattered Memories is often seen as derived from the gods. Though some people claim that morality is innate to the world and the gods derive it from that innateness.

In the culture Jim lands in, morality comes from Goddess. Laws are totally separate - closer to what we call standards or regulations. Stuff that doesn't touch on honor.

Jim can see anthropological threads that underlie the morality they've developed, though...

I think the biggest influence of the morality of the 5GC is the collective trauma of the diaspora. The cataclysm of Earth (and the subsequent Proxima disasters etc) and the tribulations of the great die-offs of survivors that created the evolutionary bottleneck…

Have you ever heard an atheist say "If you need a God to threaten you with hell in order to be a good person, you're not actually a good person?"

That's essentially what the PD believes... but also "yeah, some people ARE bad and we need a God to threaten them into being good."
