🌎 What if we told you 1 in 10 people worldwide has diabetes?
In Germany, it’s already 8.9M — and the number could double by 2040. That’s why researchers at the PLID are working hard to understand the mechanisms driving diabetes.

🚀 Join us for the next #DiabetesResearchSeminar with our guest Olof Idevall-Hagren, as we dive into the secret world of pancreatic β-cells! Discover how their inner workings shift in diabetes and the insights this holds for new type 2 diabetes therapies.
Here at the PLID, we are working to make diabetes research and data is FAIR: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
The FAIR guiding principles lead us toward more transparent data practices—because real progress happens when research is shareable, searchable, and sustainable. #FAIRData
Here’s our team hard at work sharing knowledge about diabetes with the public at the Long Night of Science! 🧬💬
We had tons of great conversations, including with a 12-year-old citizen scientist! 🧪 We also saw strong support for a sugar tax among our visitors. 🍬📉
