My photo shows a Paleo-Babylonian clay tablet inscribed with cuneiform text, still partially enclosed in its original clay envelope. The clay is pale orangey-brown in colour displayed against a grey display case background. The outer envelope has been broken open, revealing the inner tablet beneath. Both surfaces are covered with densely packed wedge-shaped characters, which record a contract for the sale of a house purchased by Mannum-balu-Samas at the price of 1/3 shekel and 15 grains of silver. This is followed by the names of the numerous witnesses including the mayor Sin-magir and the courier Apil-ilisu. The same text is repeated on the envelope in the event of a dispute, which was broken to inspect the internal document. It is dated 32nd year of Hammurabl's reign, 10th month, c. 1750 BC. The clay envelope measures 87 mm (height) × 55 mm (width), while the inner tablet measures 64 mm (height) × 43 mm (width). On display at the Museum of Antiquity in Turin. Collection number MAT 740.

An illustration of a Georgian manor house in the mid- background. An ominous black cloud directly above the house. A tree lined avenue on the far right of the illustration. A central pathway leading down from the property with figures along the route including a male figure in the middle of the pathway pushing a wheelbarrow. Two female figures -adult and child- to the left of this figure looking on at the workman. A large tree to their left.
Legend at the bottom of the illustration indicates this is Baskerville House, Easy Hill, Broad Street.

Still marvelling at how pain free and calm I am after this morning’s gynaecology tests. My biggest take away was that gas and air is a miraculous combo! Not something I’ve had before due to not having children. And a couple of co-codamol pills before also helped. Huge thanks again to NHS Tayside.

Thank you! Really hoping to get to tomorrow’s JST talk, but I may well just sleep through! Have fun whatever.

Huge thanks to a very kind gynae and nurses at Perth Royal Infirmary who checked me today, ruling out a huge cancer concern. On downside they found something else which needs more tests. But probably not cancer. So impressed at the professionalism and care. They even offered shortbread! Thanks NHS.

And for the computer science folks, my St Andrews CS PhD which I had to drop out of in 1996 due to my progressive neurological disease (still not then diagnosed properly) was about creating a system to support hypercode, a hypertext like programming system built on underlying persistence technology.

Very belatedly watching the 1990 documentary “Hyperland” about hypertext, starring Douglas Adams (who wrote it) and Tom Baker. It originally aired on the BBC just as my husband and I were starting as undergraduate students at St Andrews. youtu.be/cyAQgK7BkA8

Search the Census | The National Archives of Ireland Search through historical census records with The National Archives of Ireland, offering access to essential data for genealogy and historical research.

Starting the day looking up siblings of my g-granny from Dublin in the newly released 1926 Irish census. Having to check some more BMD certs (fortunately mostly available online, free, for this period) to verify addresses. But finding most folks sought. nationalarchives.ie/collections/... #genealogy

Calico Sew a quilt, collect buttons, attract cats!

Hoped to have my first play of board game Calico, but had to pop out all the cardboard pieces first, and sort them into wee bags. Big challenge with neurological illness hands! Done, though I'm now very sluggish all over as a result. Hope to have a play another day! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/28...

Postal votes completed for the Scottish parliamentary election. Commentating loudly throughout ("Envelope A!" "Envelope B!"). I find the process freshly baffling every time. But was clear who I was voting for. And for the first time in many years voted differently for constituency and regional list.

Meanwhile my main box remains my Clinkscales 72 bass piano accordion, made by Paolo Soprani in Italy, and bought new in 1981. It had its first retune in 40 years in 2021, and is still going strong. Gorgeous rich sound, still practical for me to play when my progressive neurological illness allows.

Belatedly learning Weltmeister accordion makers in Germany (since 1852, give or take debates over firms) closed late 2024. I have a 48 bass Perle box of theirs, which is a handy smaller alternative. I have form in this: bought a Maugein CBA not long before they shut in France! But since relaunched.

Hi! May be worth asking this in intfiction.org forum which is very active. Also depends whether you're looking at choice based IF or traditional parser text adventures - I write latter. There's SpringThing.net competition running now, with IFComp in autumn. Also see IFWiki www.ifwiki.org/Main_Page
