DDA Budget Update: The FY2027 DDA budget is $3.3B, a 14.2% cut. Advocates reduced cuts from $150M to $126M and stopped a $500K service cap. Waitlist is at its lowest in 8 years. We will keep fighting for disability services. Stay informed! Contact: tracy@pogmd.org
Great news! Two important bills PASSED in Maryland's 2026 session:
SB 29 - Plain Language Ballot Questions: Makes voting easier to understand for everyone.
SB 742 - Protecting People With Disabilities Act: Protects DDA services and gives more time to appeal.

This month, let's center understanding, support families and caregivers, and amplify the voices of people with developmental disabilities.
Everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard.
#StressAwarenessMonth #DisabilityAdvocacy #InclusionMatters
Awareness means action. It means creating inclusive, predictable spaces, listening to self-advocates, and improving access to support and mental health resources.

April is Stress Awareness Month 💙
For people with developmental disabilities, stress can look different—often shaped by changes in routine, sensory challenges, or communication barriers.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to live, learn, and thrive.
#OTMonth #DisabilityAdvocacy #InclusionMatters
But access remains a challenge. Too many individuals and families still face barriers to the services they need.
This month, we celebrate OT professionals and continue to advocate for expanded access, inclusive supports, and systems that recognize the full potential of every person.

April is Occupational Therapy Month 💙
Occupational therapy helps people with developmental disabilities build independence, strengthen daily living skills, and fully participate in their communities.
✔️ Call for research and policy that includes and represents people with developmental disabilities
No one should be left behind when it comes to diagnosis, care, or quality of life.
#ParkinsonsAwareness #DevelopmentalDisabilities #DisabilityAdvocacy #HealthEquity #InclusionMatters
This month, we:
✔️ Advocate for healthcare that recognizes the needs of people with developmental disabilities
✔️ Raise awareness about how Parkinson’s can impact this community
️ Support caregivers and professionals in delivering informed, inclusive care
People with developmental disabilities deserve equitable access to neurological care, early and accurate diagnosis, and supports that are tailored, respectful, and person-centered. Their health experiences matterand their voices must be part of the conversation.
Too often, individuals in our community face delayed diagnoses and limited access to providers who understand their unique needs.
As an advocacy organization, we are committed to changing that.

April is National Parkinson’s Awareness Month 💙
For people with developmental disabilities, health conditions like Parkinson’s disease can be harder to identify, understand, and treat—especially when symptoms may be overlooked or misattributed.
We're committed to doing that work alongside the people and families we serve—not just raising awareness, but building a more inclusive world where everyone can belong and thrive.
#AutismAcceptanceMonth #Neurodiversity #InclusionMatters #DisabilityAdvocacy
Autistic people bring insight, creativity, and perspective that make our communities stronger. True acceptance means recognizing those strengths while also pushing for the supports and opportunities everyone deserves.

April is Autism Acceptance Month 💙
This month—and every month—we're reminded that acceptance isn't just a word. It's how we show up: by listening to autistic voices, making space for different ways of thinking and communicating, and working together to remove the barriers that still exist.
Wishing you a joyful and meaningful Easter. 💛🐣
#InclusiveCommunity #BelongingForAll #CelebrateDifferences #SeasonOfRenewal #EasterHope
Let’s make this season a time to uplift voices, open hearts, and recommit to building a more inclusive world—one where differences are not just accepted, but celebrated.
Just as spring brings new beginnings, we’re reminded that progress happens when we nurture understanding, break down barriers, and create spaces where all people are embraced for who they are.
This Easter, we celebrate renewal, hope, and the power of belonging for everyone in our community.
For individuals with developmental disabilities, true inclusion means more than just being present—it means being valued, supported, and given every opportunity to grow, connect, and thrive.
Your work matters. Your advocacy matters. And the communities you support are stronger because of you.
#NationalSocialWorkMonth #DisabilityAdvocacy #inclusionmatters #DignityForAll
At the heart of this work is a simple but powerful belief: people with developmental disabilities deserve to be heard, respected, and supported in achieving their goals.
To all the social workers who listen, uplift, and fight for a more inclusive world—thank you.
Social workers are more than service providers—they are allies, amplifiers, and changemakers. They help break down barriers, challenge outdated systems, and ensure that every person has the opportunity to live a self-directed, meaningful life in their community.
March is National Social Work Month💙
Today, we celebrate the dedicated social workers who stand alongside people with developmental disabilities—advocating for dignity, equity, and inclusion in every space where decisions are made.
Let’s commit to building a world where every woman is seen, heard, and valued.
#WomensHistoryMonth #disabilityinclusion #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs
Women with developmental disabilities are advocates, professionals, caregivers, artists, and change-makers. Their perspectives make our communities stronger, more compassionate, and more just.
Too often, their voices are overlooked. Too often, their contributions go unrecognized. But today—and every day—we honor their stories, amplify their leadership, and stand alongside them in the fight for equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere—including women with developmental disabilities who continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and lead with courage.
