Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental condition that affects communication, social interaction, behavior, and learning in different ways and to varying degrees.

Awareness

Most obvious signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder appear between 2 and 3 years of age. Children may fail to respond to their name or show reduced interest in people. About 25–30% of people with autism have limited or minimal speech, although some develop communication skills later. Seizures, ADHD, and anxiety frequently accompany autism.

Action

Developmental delay screenings should occur at 9, 18, and 30 months of age. Autism Spectrum Disorder screenings should occur at 18 and 24 months. A child psychologist or neurologist can help detect autism in a child.

Inclusion and Acceptance

Neurodivergent strengths include hyperfocus, pattern recognition, creativity, and empathy.
These strengths often go unseen in rigid systems. When nurtured, they become powerful tools for change.

Alt Text Description: Neurodiversity Illustration
A vibrant, detailed, cartoon illustration celebrating Neurodiversity. A diverse group of five children walks cheerfully along a path through a whimsical, pastel-colored park.
•	The path itself is made up of large, stylized sections of different-colored brains (yellow, green, blue, purple) highlighting various cognitive styles.
•	The children are diverse in appearance and represent different ways of interacting with the world: one girl walks while reading a book, another wears glasses, and a boy on the far right is happily riding a unicycle.
•	Above them, across the blue sky, a rainbow arches. Along the rainbow are small stylized brain illustrations, each patterned differently (with puzzle pieces, spirals, polka dots, etc.).
•	A swirling, stylized whirlwind or vortex graphic hovers over the center of the path, symbolizing active minds and different forms of focus (like ADHD or hyperfocus).
•	A banner stretches across the top, reading: "NEURODIVERSITY: AWESOME MINDS, UNIQUE WORLDS."
•	The trees in the park also have unique patterns on their trunks and leaves, reinforcing the theme of natural variation.
