It's a great book, mainly because he's a writer who went for a bike ride rather than a bike rider who wrote a book. See also Jill Homer, Tim Moore. Or the bike rider who majored in English, Phil Gaimon.
A Great Tit fledgling with its beak open on a branch

A Great Tit fledging shouting for food, from the summer.

Filth like that should be restricted to OnlyFans.
A raven at the very top of our tree.
#GardenBirds , number... er... 9. I missed out number 9!
A raven, usually hard to see but easy to hear with its "gronk gronk" noise.
So still 32 species photographed, 2 more seen this year (crow and Chiffchaff)

A treecreeper on branch looking for insects
#GardenBirds A slightly better picture of the treecreeper, but I really need to stake out the top of the garden and get a bit closer.

A buzzard looking curious in a tree
#GardenBirds Glancing idly out the window when this one flew in and perched on the branch where the hanging feeders are. Probably enticed by the doves, but in no way fast enough to catch anything. Hello Buzzard!

Took some thinking but I dragged it up from somewhere. Probably 20 years since I last read it, though read it many times before.
A poor quality picture of a Treecreeper
#GardenBirds , number 32. A terrible picture at long range (800mm equivalent) taken through a dirty window as quickly as I could, but it counts - Treecreeper! Only the second time I've seen one.

Three of the five online services I subscribe to are Wired, The Guardian and The Atlantic. Other two are cycling related.
Good consistency from GB there! 4th in both.
Treecreeper
I took this last week - treecreeper was on the tree at the end of the garden and I was upstairs shooting through the dirty window, about 30m away.
A buzzard in a tree
#GardenBirds , number 31. A dull windy day and a Buzzard appears - quite rare to see perching, they can be seen in the air quite often, though not as often as the Red Kites.
So... 31 species photographed this year.

A Red Kite taking off from a tree
#GardenBirds , so close, if only I'd been framing slightly differently when the Red Kite took off... and a faster shutter speed. I'm a total amateur at this!

A Red Kite in a conifer tree with blue sky behind
#GardenBirds , number 30. Finally a Red Kite graced the top of our tree and spent long enough calling for me to notice and grab my camera. This is at 800mm zoom equivalent (OM-1 so 400mm lens).
Note the #bluesky behind too!

Assuming you meant "aren't" rather than "are". Netherlands?
And it fruits in the winter so an important food source for birds.
Pidcock's going to drop all the GC group and win by 2 mins, taking the lead and holding it all the way to the end. And Geraint Thomas is going to win the GC on the ToB too...
Nigel Farage looks uncomfortable as Jamie Raskin uses his opening statement to absolutely demolish him
Fingers crossed the BBC are right!
Not a live one - saw one killed by the road by Snelsmore Common, Newbury. Confirmed with the Ranger a couple of weeks later they have a population.
Commentators on SBS guessed it was a bottle grab gone wrong, so pretty close
A goldfinch on a thistle picking up seeds.
#GardenBirds , This is why we leave the thistles to go to seed - the Goldfinches love them. We've got flocks of Goldfinches around the area this year.

A sunbathing blackbird
#GardenBirds , One hot Blackbird! They do like to sunbathe.

All bands are great and should be encouraged. You've got to start somewhere. (Ex-keyboard player in initially terrible, eventually adequate uni bands)
Pistachio and Fondente gelato in a cone.
Missing a trick, pistachio should always be combined with chocolate. Unless in Italy, when fondente (dark chocolate) is the correct pairing. Picture taken in San Remo on MSR day.

Jackdaw raiding squirrel feeder 2
Jackdaw raiding squirrel feeder 3
Jackdaw raiding squirrel feeder 4
#GardenBirds , Bought a squirrel feeder box to reduce them taking stuff from bird feeders. Jackdaws' are taking revenge.
