I can’t believe this news. What an amazing woman - I was looking forward to working in her system for however long she was leading us @unimelb.bsky.social

You can do this right now:

Think of a person who wrote a paper you love, whose work influenced or helped you, or has made your professional life better.

Search up their email address. Shoot them a quick email of thanks. It means so, so much. This is a rough time of year, share some joy.

A3 - I had a tribe! I organised and connected with a group of like minded staff across the institution and they would catch up with my for coffee, check in with me and generally support me when I felt lost. #LTHEchat

A3. Seeking out like-minded people who feed your soul.

I have a group who do this from across the globe and it is awesome.

That was me for 18 months. It became debilitating and prevented me from being successful.

A2. I’m doing the opposite - I’ve started working out of the tea room on the busy floor to see more people.

A3. I have 2 people at my work who are always looking out for me. You can see from my posts it has been a rocky 3 years in assessment land. But it is shaping up to be an amazing 2026.

A3. I’m still experiencing the work loneliness - it has been 3 years. But last week a change in leadership is helping - asked me to implement it and I think I might go from a team of 6 to a team of about 30 - bringing everyone into the group to have fun working together.

Yes early on I was probably a bit forceful - it has impacted my mental health so I have a psychologist as well. She’s totally supportive which is lovely.

A2. I’ve been lucky to have a manager and a few key people who understand that I’m experiencing professional loneliness through being a bit left out. They are being inclusive and supportive which helps.

A2. I feel most lonely right now. I’m in a leadership position that I love - but I was moved to a floor almost by myself and then I work in assessment people struggle with what I have to do - at the moment major change.

A1. I love alone time but for me that is different to being lonely. I’m rarely lonely in my own alone time but I’m often lonely at work - alone or with people - because I do not feel included.

A1. This one resonates with me - I’m in assessment and it is lonely. Regularly not thought of in meetings that cross over with my work. Knowing it could really help me and I could really help them is tough.

My first gold bunny of the year.

Having hit rock bottom with #highered #burnout I’m slowly rebuilding myself by spending at least 30 minutes in my garden each day. What an absolute privilege

Was told this week while listening to a wonderful session on programmatic assessment that the #highered community on #Bluesky is getting back to the network we had on the other. Haven’t visited for a while. Glad to be back and checking in
