The cover of hearts on the table shows two girls, one in masculine attire and one in feminine attire arranged in a playing card format against a blue back drop. Text reads: As WWI rages, a 17- year-old English Feminist with a penchant for thrashing men at cards finds herself stranded on an enemy island and tangled in the last mess she'd ever expect: love. 9.22.26

Today's Supreme Court decision, though couched in the language of freedom and inclusivity, is a tragic failure for both the right to read and the rights of LGBTQIA+ people. Authors Against Book Bans stands firmly and fiercely against the decision and its rationale. To allow parents to "object" to the presence of positive books about the lives and rights of LGBTQIA+ people is to allow them to "object" to the existence of LGBTQIA+ students, parents, educators, and others in the wider community. You cannot “opt out” of reality, no matter what today’s majority opinion states. These books belong on shelves and these stories belong in classrooms and curricula.

I'm so glad! I'm also still figuring myself out in .y late 30s, in so many ways. I think it's why I'm drawn to writing (and reading) YA: there's no pretense that the characters know themselves perfectly. In my experience, identity is a life-long discovery process.

Hi Jen, yes! I'd love you to include it. Thank you! She's exploring her sexuality in the book and doesn't quite know what label fits her by the end, but she's thinking along the ace spectrum. Based on my own experience :)

The Texas Legislature is working through the holiday weekend. Those driving book bans and censorship in our state are activating their supporters to pressure lawmakers to move Senate Bill 13 (school library bill) and House Bill 3225 (public library bill) forward.

Screaming Red Alarm in the Texas Capitol This one's about public libraries. Here's what to do.

Texas Friends, call your reps & tell them to vote NO on book banning bill HB3225. The gov't doesn't decide what my kids are allowed to read. Other parents don't either. I do. *THAT'S* what "parental rights" means. #kidlitmegafeed franklinstrong.substack.com/p/screaming-...

RFK Jr. asks CDC for new measles treatment guidance amid his unfounded claims Kennedy claimed that drugs like budesonide and clarithromycin "have been shown very effective" for measles, but doctors say they don't fight the infection itself.

‘Kennedy told reporters that there were "many, many good ways to treat measles and doctors need to know that and to know those methods.’

One problem; there is no treatment for measles. Signed, a doctor who’s been forced to deal with measles because of this stupid fraud.

#kidlitmegafeed if you're disabled join Disabled Kidlit Writers on fb for a supportive community in these shitty times

Disabled people are 28% of the US population. We will not go away just because you don't want us here or shut up because you don't want to hear us. And only the weakest bullies kick the disabled kids.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

The items on your list make it clear that you view the lives of disabled people as not worthwhile. Can't play baseball? Tragedy. Need support with self care tasks? Tragedy. Can't pay taxes [*and aren't a millionaire who clearly deserves tax cuts]? Tragedy. Well, F U Robert F. [2/3]

Dear Robert F-ing Kennedy. My family is not a tragedy. Being who we are is not suffering. My kids play sports. I write poems for a living. I am married. We all use toilets. And yes, to the first and presumably most important item on your list, I pay taxes. But let's be real: 🧵 [1/3]
