Over a third of aces indicated that they often (2.8%), sometimes (9.3%), or rarely (24.7%) wished to act on their sexual attraction or desire by pursuing a sexual relationship or experience. A quarter of aces (25.2%) indicated that they never wished to act on their desire, and another third (33.9%) stated that the question was not applicable. Only 4.1% of aces were unsure if they wanted to do so. Among those who were unsure if they were ace, one out of ten (9.8%) stated that they often wished to act on their attraction or desire, while a quarter (27.3%) sometimes did, and a third (31.8%) rarely did. One out of six (16.1%) participants who were unsure if they were ace indicated that they never wished to act on it. Nine out of ten non-ace participants indicated that they often (43.1%), sometimes (35.2%), or rarely (11.9%) wished to act on their attraction or desire. Of non-ace participants, 4.7% indicated that they did not wish to act on that, and only 2.8% were unsure. Among participants who specifically indicated that they were asexual, almost half (46.4%) indicated that they felt the question was not applicable and nearly a third (29.0%) stated they did not wish to act on any attraction or desire. Around one in five asexual participants indicated that they often (0.9%), sometimes (3.5%), or rarely (16.4%) wished to act on that. Among participants who identified as demisexual, the percentages were similar to those who were unsure if they were ace, with the majority (42.6%) indicating that they rarely wished to act on their sexual attraction or desire, followed by those who sometimes (29.8%) or often (12.7%) did. This trend was also similar among graysexual participants, where nearly half (49.4%) rarely wished to act on their attraction or desire, followed by those who sometimes (21.6%) did. One in six (16.8%) graysexual participants indicated that they never wanted to act on their attraction or desire.
As part of the 2022 survey, we asked our respondents how often they have wished to act on thei sexual attraction or desire (if they experience it).
