Seabird monitoring and conservation are ongoing at Cima Islet, an important biodiversity hotspot in Cabo Verde. From March 9 to 20, activities included nest monitoring, bird ringing, sample collection, and the use of GPS/GEO devices to assess breeding status.

During the IV Ocean Decade Conference on Fogo Island, Projecto Vitó proposed creating a Marine Protected Area between Fogo and Brava.
If approved, it will boost Cabo Verde’s protected waters from 0.4% to 1.4%, strengthening the nation’s commitment to biodiversity and sustainability.
Projecto Vitó, represented by Simony Rosa, took part in the II Forum for Reflection with Civil Society Organizations in Cabo Verde.

On Aug 6, the 2nd Environmental Technical Roundtable took place on Fogo Island under the #DestinoFogo project. Led by #ProjectoVitó, key steps were taken for co-managing protected areas on Fogo & Brava — uniting conservation and sustainable development.
