Instead of a #christmasparty how about a New Year party! Managers met with Nurses annually on 1st Jan; a tradition started in 1868. Not sure if it was mandatory nor if it was much fun๐Ÿ˜‚ In 1923, the nurses' choir sang & the Lord Provost attended.

This is Rascal ๐Ÿ˜Š, one of our #archiveelves & he is usually up to all kinds of mischief. Yesterday, however, he wanted to help curate our #rottenrow exhibition & so he did some research. Opens 2026 & it promises to be our best one yet!

#christmascards

We don't know what year this is from but it is a lovely old-fashioned card....

The modern card with the bee was the only year we did paper cards in December 2022.

We are 231!

Wonderful things have happened inside our walls. Things which have shaped healthcare throughout the world. We gave the world antisepsis, nurse training & more. Today, pioneering work continues & inside there is a sense of team, of community & of pride, even when times are tough.

A photo of the label for ONE NIGHT COUGH SYRUP, showcasing the list of toxic ingredients.

'Tis the season!

โ€œOne Night Cough Syrupโ€ from the 1930s, which contained cannabis, morphine, chloroform, and alcohol! In 1934, the FDA ruled that the claims of the cough syrup's therapeutic properties were misleading, and remaining stock was destroyed.

Scotland have qualified for The World Cup. Bet these guys would have been proud.

The plastic surgery unit's football team 1968, an unknown team but they have a trophy so must have been good & the staff football team from 1936.

Well done Scotland, we will be rooting for you.
