Well defined, concentric double rings and cups carvings on a sandstone outcrop on Tod Crag, near Ottercops Moss, Northumberland

Quite the boggy, marshy, hardy heather root and tussocky grass strewn hike to Tod Crag yesterday. In northern Britain, 'cup and ring mark' rock art falls within the 4000-1500 BC period. Definitely a venerable contender for #WeekOForOld #AlphabetChallenge #Northumberland #archaeosky

One of my top 3 stone circles. It's as if each stone had it's own personality.

Pawton Quoit, Cornwall. Also known as a cromlech or portal dolmen. One of my favourite megaliths in Cornwall.

Pawton Quoit: A Stone Age Enigma in Cornwall Pawton Quoit is a magnificent portal dolmen built by Cornwall’s stone age inhabitants. The imposing megalith sits, mostly intact, atop a ridge overlooking a steep valley. The enormous capstone, which juts out incongruously against the landscape, must weigh at least 15 tonne, and perches on just three points of the supporting upright stones.

DIY skincare: Yellow dead nettle, elderflower, plantain and nettle - infused into organic coconut oil, beeswax and cocoa butter. I swear by it for stings, bites and allergy rashes. I wouldn't be without it in horsefly season! #foraging #herbalism

A black and white painting of the megalithic monument known as Wayland's Smithy, with large stones gathered around a dark doorway and trees behind.

A black and white painting of the megalithic monument known as Wayland's Smithy, with large stones gathered around a dark doorway and trees behind.

This is my watercolour of Wayland's Smithy, a Neolithic long barrow in Oxfordshire. Legend tells that if you leave your horse there with a coin then the mythical blacksmith Wayland will magically reshoe it.
The original artwork is now available on my Etsy shop here: shorturl.at/jof38

Technocapitalists’ great trick is to make people who hate all this bullshit feel like they’re suffering from the same fogeys-not-coping-with-a-changing-world syndrome every generation succumbs to, rather than, say, just rejecting a rampant evil that seeks to rob us of our individuality & and soul.

Early morning dog walk through the woodland bluebells and beneath the birdsong chorus. A reminder to come back to the present moment when feeling overwhelmed. May your day be peaceful, my friends. 😊

Bipolar and Anxiety part 2 The first step on the road to managing my anxiety was to identify it. To understand what that feeling was, how it felt in my body. To recognise anxious thoughts for what they were, so I could observe them, rather than engage with them. So I could attempt to rationalise and reframe them.

Each stretch of land gifted with stones is at some level enchanted. For the the Long Neolithic leaks impossible narratives, disrupts our sense of the now. It makes claim to the imagination. The stones are storytellers. The stones make us storytellers. – Dr. K Brophy #StandingStoneSunday
