The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Through the Looking Glass" debuted on this day in 1995. Here's my poster art for the episode. #StarTrek #StarTrekDS9

Me trying to tune into BlueSky.
I love to post about movies. Please don't pee on my rug.
If we don't prosecute these criminals to the fullest extent of the law we won't get back the rule of law, we won't regain the respect of our allies, and we'll leave the door open for the next criminal president.
Any Dem that wants to go back to "business as usual" or "bygones be bygones" has to go.
🎶Once i was young and impulsive
I wore every conceivable pin
Even went to the socialist meetings
Learned all the old union hymns
But i've grown older and wiser
And that's why i'm turning you in
So love me, love me, love me, i'm a liberal🎶

If every show has a doctor, why can't there be a series where doctors are the lead characters and medical mysteries are the antagonists?
The roadmap for that theoretical show is in Star Trek itself so I think it will happen eventually.

Murray Leinster's "Medship" series blazed the trail for this subgenre of sci-fi.
James White's "Sector General" series and S.L. Viehls "Stardoc" are also essential reading.
I read alot of Michael Crichton and Robin Cook novels as a teen. Medical Thrillers + Space seem like a good pairing.

Starfleet Medical should have its own series: solving medical mysteries, treating battlefield injuries, flying into danger in unarmed medical vessels.
I've been thinking about this since at least 2020.
I got impatient and started writing it as a fanfic novel.

Excalibur (1981) poster art.
Released #OTD.
Grayscale digital portrait of Chloe Zhao.
Slow going on the next filmmaker zine but I’ve got another portrait done ❤️
Evil Dead (2013) is The Evil Dead (1981) without humor or camp.
It's a good popcorn film but isn't spectacular compared to previous films in the series.
Alvarez does stick the landing with a batshit third act (an Evil Dead requirement) but that's most of what I remember about it.

Fargo was released 30 years ago today 🚔❄️
Reminds me of classic Portland Mercury failed columns like: "One Hulk's Opinion" and "Those I've Killed So Far by the Portland Streetcar"
"While everyone else is still trying to catch up with them, Netflix remains the king of the hill with over 300 million subscribers, but the "Golden Age" of cheap, experimental streaming is officially over.
Pour one out for the old days."

The world is less interesting without David Lynch.
He operated at a creative level that some folks mistook as a madness, but he wasn't a madman.

The Friends of Eddie Coyle is moving out of "Best Films You've Never Seen" territory because it's mentioned in so many Criterion Closet videos.
It's maybe my favorite 70's Noir because it doesn't overplay its hand.
It fuses the best parts of classic Noir and New Hollywood.

This is a great list. I've seen two of these: Lady In White and Living Daylights
Black Rainbow has been on my radar for a while so I'll probably see it this year.
Two more underrated 80s gems that are worth seeing:
Until September and 8 Million Ways to Die

So soon after his passing, it would be criminal not to extol the charms of HAROLD & MAUDE (1971) on Bud Cort's birthday, 3/29/48.
Perfect as death-obsessed teen romancing octogenarian Ruth Gordon (stunning!), weird little movie is so joyous, poignant, hilarious, & life-affirming. ❤️

The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers is a solid rockumentary about the early days of RHCP.
Watched it last weekend and really enjoyed it.

I can think of one seatbelt in Star Trek 😆

100% agree. I was hesitant about Starfleet Academy until I watched the first two episodes. It continued surprising me.
I want to see that second season. If it gets a physical release, I'll buy it.
Trek without a message is the Section 31 movie: crapola
