My 1st small copper of 2026 spotted at Luffness near Gullane in East Lothian. Tiny but exquisite wee creature. I think the plant may be "Dove's-foot Cranes-Bill". Happy to be corrected though. @savebutterflies.bsky.social @plantlifeuk.bsky.social #butterfly #wildflower #spring #wildlife #Scotland

Awful news.

As part of the coalition urging NatureScot to recognise the importance of the Garnock Estuary and designate it as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, we share the anger felt by Buglife and the Ardeer Action Group that precious and irreplaceable sand dune continues to be destroyed.

Plastic grass, next to real grass with wild flowers growing in it

Plastic grass, next to real grass with wild flowers growing in it

The stark contrast between plastic grass and real grass. One is devoid of life and shedding microplastics. The other is colourfully boosting biodiversity.

The head and neck of a roe deer obscured by a bush. But most of the frame is filled with an out-of-focus classic red telephone box.

I did get clearer shots of the deer but was very happy to get this background.

This roe deer was very unexpected this morning. It was at the bottom of the slope of Calton Hill and seeming to be considering jumping down to Regent Road.
