In March, I joined a Knowles Teachers senior fellow panel on teacher voice in policy.
Shared my experience with @teachplus.bsky.social & learned from others doing this work.
Teachers need to be part of policy decisions.

“PBL builds on the expertise teachers already bring.”
Focused this session on refining what teachers are already doing — not adding more. That’s what makes it sustainable.
Grateful to be learning alongside teachers this spring.

Really appreciated the last #TCTM virtual meet-up — always good to connect with other math educators.
Next one coming up:

“Number Strings” + networking
Simple, practical, and a chance to be in community.

Not all high school programs translate to real classrooms.
Upstream Education has been one that does.
Simple tools, strong coaching, relevant for students, and actually sustainable for teachers.
One of the few programs I’d genuinely recommend.

Leading PD through inquiry groups. Ts set goals, ask inquiry questions, collect data, & analyze it together using protocols & roles. We cycle through this work & share our learning at the end of the year.
What’s standing out is how invested folks are in growth and learning from each other. #edusky

I just started a term on the TCTM board. We kicked things off with our January board meeting.
TCTM’s goals focus on building interest in math, supporting math teaching, strengthening teacher prep, & connecting with NCTM and CAMT.
Excited to learn, connect, & grow. Ask me about getting involved.
Recently became a National Board Certified Teacher.
It feels like both a milestone & a responsibility. The process strengthened my reflection & reminded me that excellent teaching is never static. When teachers continue to grow, students benefit most.

As the year winds down, wishing you rest, reflection, and a strong start to the new year.
Happy holidays and Happy New Year!
Spent the day in a #PBL workshop with coworkers and teachers new to PBL. Reflecting on projects and planning was a good reminder that learning happens when we take time to pause and reflect together. #mtbos #edusky #teach180 #PBLChat

@progressedpathways.bsky.social was featured on the Amidon Planet Podcast.
We talked about our collaboration, the work we’re doing, & STEM beliefs that brought us together. If you’re thinking about #PBL as a mindset, not just a model, this one’s worth a listen. amidonplanet.com/episode136
“When students move, think, and talk, the learning sticks.”
This chain rule scavenger hunt got students moving, discussing, and doing the math. Active learning doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.

3 takeaways from a discussion on The Art of the Small Scale + The Art of Coaching:
Staying hopeful is active work
Language shapes vision, impact, & possibility
Coaching & growth aren’t linear
