It's fine to use somebody else's photo if they've posted it on a public website - but it is polite to credit them if you do.
This is not a library; It's my office. And this is not just any kitten. His name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.

Me holding a large insect in my hands.
A close up on the insect showing long wings a small head with intimidating looking mandibles. He can’t bite with the mandibles though, it’s thought that females are attached to males with large ones.
Making friends with a handsome male Dobsonfly.

Rewilding farmland, soon after the trees spring up unplanted, a host of wildflowers and other ground flora move in, like this wood sorrel. Then come the insects, followed by birds and other animals.
It's all just so beautiful, and so *hopeful*.
Oh god, interview me please.

#PondView - wildlife ponds supporting only native plants in and around the pond brings something special!
About 45% of pet ownership is walking by them and badly singing little songs that integrate their names. If you can’t do this, then I’m sorry, you are not ready for the responsibilities of owning a pet.
Following on from my post below.

Some lunar vocabulary in case you're following along with the #Artemis II flyby:
* albedo: reflectiveness (high albedo=very shiny)
* mare/maria(plural): from Latin for "sea," dark regions on the Moon, which are dried lava basins
* terminator: the line of the transition between sunlight & darkness
Seems reasonable. A bit of fat to keep you going when you get flu.
A scale illustration of the Earth and the Moon, with the Earth on the far left, lots of black, and then the Moon on the far right, about 30 Earth diameters away.
In honor of (hopefully) today's launch of NASA's Artemis II mission, the first crewed mission to orbit the Moon in more than 50 years, here is a to-scale graphic of exactly how far away the Moon actually is. (Click image to expand.) You could fit about 30 Earths between the Earth and the Moon!
I share this warning most years. I just want young journalists to know. On April 1st some PRs publish ‘hilarious’ press releases.
In my first year of journalism no one told me there was this magical day where they simply lie. And that is how I came to write an article about condoms for dogs.
Is your aim here to drive your customers to buy even more mass produced bread?
Jet lag stories are fun. I was once so jet lagged that I was too scared to pee because I couldn’t tell if I was actually awake or dreaming.

This used to be part of own front lawn, now a mini-woodland: Wild garlic, wood anemone, bluebells, primroses…
Hope you’re comfortable with him finding out because this is way too specific to pass off as coincidence if he reads it.
I’m extremely annoyed that you don’t say which.
A large tree with several branches growing out in different directions, all laden with thick moss. There are ferns in the foreground, and a variety of trees and plants around and behind the tree. The sky behind is blown out by the sun and is bright white.

Sand Martin
Another image from my evening visit to the Sand Martins at Sandy Water Park. Pretty chuffed with these first efforts and can see myself spending a lot more time with them in the near future. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birds #birdsSeenIn2026
Durham Cathedral.
Walcher, a Lotharingian priest, arrived in Durham to serve as its bishop #OTD in 1071. Edith, former queen of the English, reportedly said of him, ‘Here we have a beautiful martyr.’ This foreshadowed his death at the hands of Northumbrian rebels at Gateshead in 1080. 📸Matt Buck #medievalsky
The universe is a glorious, stunningly beautiful place, and it’s offensive & gross when people produce or share fake space imagery.
There’s a video floating around on here pretending to be the night sky viewed from Mars. It’s extremely fake, has been polluting the internet for years. Don’t share it
I often get annoyed by people saying they’ve ended relationships over really trivial stuff but, in this case, I think you made absolutely the right choice.
Spring blooms in blues, yellows and white. Clockwise from top left: Scilla forbesii, Scilla bifolia rosea, Narcissus ‘Elka’, Muscari latifolium, Prunus sp., Scilla siberica, Narcissus ‘Little Emma’, Scilla ‘Pink Giant’, Erythronium dens-canis
It feels like winter, but it looks like spring 🌸 🌱 🩷

I didn’t get in anywhere my first time applying.
I didn’t know you had to contact potential advisors first!
Now I run a free workshop series through the Society of Vertebrate paleontology to walk folks through the application process.
If you’re in paleo, bio, or geo, dm if interested!
In case you were wondering what the white flower is along many main roads, it’s Scurvy Grass, a UK native coastal plant that has made it inland due to salting and gritting of the roads!
Divorce and losing time with his son, I guess.
Beefly Alley did NOT disappoint this lunchtime
13 Bombylius major (m & f) and it’s still early in the season!
I LOVE SPRING

Awoke at would be disaster-o’clock were we still in winter, but here on spring’s threshold, it’s just plain exciting!
