Spent some time among southern pine and ran into a red-headed woodpecker, brown headed nuthatch and the threatened red-cockaded woodpecker. The latter two are lifers and amazing birds to watch. Vocal and active with limited range. #birding #birdphotography

There’s a clash between duck hunters and bird-watchers at Florida’s 4th-largest lake Birders and hunters are often philosophically at odds.

"What lures bird-watchers to Lake Apopka is the same thing that brings hunters there. But one group shoots pictures, while the other shoots ducks."

Continuing with the American birds theme, one bird I really like to paint is the cardinal. This is the 3rd cardinal painting I've done and my favourite of the three.

This bird travels thousands of miles to winter in N.J. | Gloucester County Nature Club Snow geese are one of the most impressive sights in a New Jersey winter landscape, and a reminder of the abundant bird life seen by the earliest settlers.

Up to about 50 years ago, arctic #SnowGeese wintered mainly on salt marshes along the coast as far south as North Carolina. Now, you can see them in New Jersey thru April.
