Back at Parker River, MA today and finally got my lifer snowy owl!!!!!!! It was a distant scope sighting so no photos, but winter isn’t over yet…
Lots of fun glamour shots of other species! Pictured: horned lark, lifer eastern towhee, northern cardinal, and white-throated sparrow 🪶🌿
Spent some time among southern pine and ran into a red-headed woodpecker, brown headed nuthatch and the threatened red-cockaded woodpecker. The latter two are lifers and amazing birds to watch. Vocal and active with limited range. #birding #birdphotography

An expressive watercolour painting of a male cardinal bird
Continuing with the American birds theme, one bird I really like to paint is the cardinal. This is the 3rd cardinal painting I've done and my favourite of the three.

Photo taken at Arlingham Gloucestershire A female kestrel is a small, slender bird of prey, a little larger than the size of a pigeon or a Mourning Dove (10-13 inches long). She is primarily identified by a warm, brown appearance with patterned feathers, often seen hovering over roadsides or fields.
