Feels like this paper on protein-templated DNA synthesis by a natural enzyme warrants some comment.
So here's a 🧵. /1

Today we mourn the passing of our beloved central dogma. It served Crick well. But it is time to let go. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Our latest work on shape-programmable tissues is out in @science.org. By positioning topological defects in cellular nematics, we encode frustrated 2D force fields that relax into predictable 3D shapes. Collaboration with Marino Arroyo’s lab, led by @pauguillamat.bsky.social at @ibecbarcelona.eu.
Félix Simon's paper is out in its final form 😍
When we got into (extreme) detail in the temporal and spatial patterning of neuroblasts, Félix asked a simple question "sure, but how does this translate into neuronal cell fate?". www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Just published in @science.org 🚀
By controlling how cells align, we show that living nematic tissues can be programmed to generate forces and fold into predictable 3D shapes.

Mapping nerves in a whole embryos.
We find that across species and development stages, embryonic nerves display (beautiful) fractal geometry.

I really appreciate this discussion! Teaching at all levels needs this discussion right now.
Hi all! 👋
leeboratory.bsky.social and I are recruiting a VIP³ postdoc to join our teams and decode the genetic logic of how blastoids transit to the post-implantation stage. MolBio, genetics and computational approaches. If this sounds like you (or someone you know), we’d love to hear from you! 🚀
🧵New paper from the lab @isd-research.bsky.social @lmu-klinikum.bsky.social @lmu.de in STM @science.org! A human #iPSC-derived #Tauopathy model that endogenously develops late-stage Tau pathology. Free personal PDF: www.science.org/eprint/5H5YD....
Here's what we found👇 1/10
Data. A mouse model of glioblastoma leads to inevitable death within 50 days. Delivery of HSV+TK plus IL2, driven by a strong and specific synthetic superenhancer, allows almost all mice to survive even after nearly 150 days. From Fig5 of Koeber et al 2026
Just look at this graph (Fig 5A,B from Koeber et al).
Amazing.
Congratulations to the Pollard lab and all authors.

Stunning illustration of how advances in cellular genomics can disentangle links between gene variants & clinical outcomes. Here, saturation editing revealed distinct neurodevelopmental disorders involving the same non-protein-coding gene. 🙌 @nickywhiffin.bsky.social @gregfindlay.bsky.social & co🧬🔬🧪
🚨 Why can’t mammals regenerate limbs like frog tadpoles or salamanders?
In our new paper in @science.org , we show that species-specific oxygen sensing acts as a gatekeeper for initiating limb regeneration 🐭🐸

📢 First preprint from the Casañal Lab!
Excited to share our work on human NSUN2, done together with the brilliant @ecleroy.bsky.social.
Using #CryoEM, we capture the dramatic structural rearrangement of tRNA as it flips a cytidine into the NSUN2 catalytic pocket for m⁵C modification.
