The collab recommends exercise for people with #LongCOVID without PEM.
However, this presumes the average physician knows what PEM is and can explain to a patient how it differs from fatigue. (Unlikely.)
PEM & pacing, for the curious: www.meaction.net/resource/pac...
I gave feedback on the McMaster/Cochrane Canada #LongCOVID guidelines (Canadian Guidelines for Post-COVID Condition (CAN-PCC)) and therefore thought this news was more of the same.
Well, there's a bit more and also I have Thoughts about consensus & credentialism 🧪

Tweet from Brian Fog @useless_priest People with severe ME, a condition practically no one is really aware of, live in permanent solitary confinement and in physical and mental torture. He’s quoting a post from Feran @immathatkokujin • Jul 9 What's a fact that sounds fake but is 100% true?
The UN defines solitary confinement as torture when it exceeds 22 hours a day for more than 15 days.
Many people with severe ME are years or even decades into that level of isolation.
It’s a humanitarian crisis.
Think long COVID can't affect you or your family?
It affected Jonathon Toews, an elite hockey player.
This is why I continue to try and protect myself against infection

That sounds like a cool version of a heart?! Very underground art gallery-esque "Notice Shine's unique style: the Slimer lines juxtaposed against soft, seemingly accidental detail..."
Thank you! I did! I had a reference photo, but yeah free hand 🤗
White sketchpad w three pencil sketches colored in marker. Top image is a brain in a cage. Middle image is an anatomical heart w booster cables attached to a battery. Lightning around the heart indicates electricity. Images on the battery show a depleting charge w red lines and a neuron. Bottom image is a mitochondrion w a dagger stabbed through it, dripping blood into a puddle below.

Terrific #MEspine article in @thesicktimes.bsky.social !
Craniocervical instability is such a complex topic (literally: neurosurgery!), and I’m so grateful to the whole TST team for their work to give such a nuanced account.

#HigherEd #AcademicSky: with news of proposed registries and work camps for ADHD and autistic folks, are we ready to release the accommodations model of disability? Like for real? Not a rhetorical question!
Now if only we as a society could move from the “study it even further” phase to the “actually implementing UBI” phase instead of commissioning yet more studies to add to the massive trove of data we already have that shows UBI is a critical component of a truly healthy and equitable society
And now that paperwork will be inherently used to target and harm disabled students. We should have moved beyond the legal accommodation compliance process years ago. Now it is more important than ever to do so. 3/3 #Academia #Disability
When I talk about the importance of granting students accommodations WITHOUT relying on formal paperwork this is why it matters. It is DANGEROUS for some people to have diagnoses on their medical records. 1/3

Maybe we should honor the women who were real astronauts.
