I feel the same way. The first time I went, there was no hotel nearby, and the road from Playa del Carmen was a crawl due to carriage-smashing steel “humps.” But all of that also protected the area.

I finally visited Tito Bustillo Cave.

For our eyes, a purple horse might not stand out much, mainly because we’re used to modern art. But modifying nature like this was not common even 150 years ago—so this kind of representation was a significant creative step at the time.

9 Bobcat Sounds Explained: Understand Their Chirps and Screams
9 Bobcat Sounds Explained: Understand Their Chirps and Screams YouTube video by wildLINK

Heard a bobcat “yowl” tonight.
Scared the hell out of me. Searched recordings of every conceivable wild animal that could be passing through until … I got to bobcat.

The yowl starts around 6:00 minutes in. Nothing else sounds like that.

Really big #caturday 😆

I would give up my VA benefits in exchange for a single payer system.

That said... I would still want VA hospitals in the system because there are some vet specific injuries they're just better for.

The sequence of traumatization

You came into this world with real needs and a unique expression meant to unfold naturally.

↓

Consistent unmet needs + suppressed truth ⟶ Cry for help (fight instinct, subtle anger, internal rebellion against the injustice)

↓

Failure to respond to anger or unmet needs ⟶ the system doesn't return to baseline or to safe self-expression.

↓

The fight response is suppressed ⟶ anger becomes unsafe (shut down or reactive)

↓

Now we have unmet needs, suppressed authenticity + suppressed anger and injustice.

↓

Wounds begin to form, along with the early stages of self- and emotional disconnect.

↓

Nobody sees the wounding, nor the disconnection, ⟶ suppressed and unaddressed wounds.

↓

Grief sets in. The natural response to disconnection is grief. However, nobody sees the grief; hence, it remains suppressed.

↓

Now we have unmet needs, suppressed authenticity, suppressed anger, emotional wounds, layers of disconnection + supressed grief.

↓

The system starts to adapt to survive because it has few or no internal resources available.

↓

With minimal internal resources and safety, shame becomes the only option to associate with Self because nothing about its existence says, "It's ok to be you." "You are protected." "You are safe here." Everything from within screams..."Adapt. Adapt. adapt."

The body starts to brace, freeze, and contract. Emotions stay suppressed or lash out. The need for survival roles emerges.

You grow and live within this adaptive frame and you call it myself and my life. This becomes the lens through which you see yoruself, others and the world.

Soon, the system breaks because all this is unsustainable. Symptoms appear.

"I consider trauma one of the most complex human experiences to integrate.

Why?

Because traumatization is systemic. It doesn’t affect only the mind, body, nervous system, emotions, or energy. It affects the whole system."
