**inclusion not exclusion

2 months ago 1 0 0 0

It’s not a matter of “pleasing” some, it’s an issue of ableist discrimination. The tech exists to add Alt text via speech to text software if typing/thinking it through may be overwhelming. AI would be a further option. Asking for full exclusion should not be deemed a complaint by the privileged.

My second #Ekphrasis piece inspired by AshleyCook’s art and my lived experience of #chronicillness #ME is now live on the wonderful #DisabledTales. Involving the myth of the siren, Wolf Larsen and even a Beatles reference! 😌 www.disabledtales.co.uk/essays/the-l...

It looked as if Zelensky was again trying to explain the facts to someone incapable of listening. I felt so sad for Zelenskyy, Ukraine and the world when I saw this earlier - Trump is pro Putin only, and for Zelensky it must be horrendous to have to sit with this individual and face a wall of lies.

I’ve been curious to know - will you be working on recall etc or is it still too soon? She’s doing so well, but of course, I imagine there’s so much still to do behind the scenes. Best wishes, from a huge admirer of Sophie and her team ☺️

NHS experience and specialist visits. This figure presents responses regarding NHS experiences and access to specialist care for individuals with ME/CFS and long COVID. It categorises overall satisfaction with NHS services (very poor, poor, mixed, good, excellent) and illustrates the frequency of specialist visits, highlighting challenges in accessing specialised care. A huge amount of dissatisfaction and not much satisfaction regarding "NHS experience and specialist visits" from people with ME/CFS and to a slightly lesser extent people with long Covid in the UK

It turns out that saying 'this is not austerity' while simultaneously making and defending spending cuts... does not work.

Long Covid is the pandemic’s dark shadow. Why does no one in power in Britain want to talk about it? | Frances Ryan Five years after the first lockdown, millions of lives are still being ruined by this debilitating disease. You wouldn’t know it, says Guardian columnist Frances Ryan

Thank you to @sensecharity.bsky.social for providing an accessible campaign template, enabling me to write to my MP @gordonmckee.bsky.social re #disabiltycuts more swiftly than I would otherwise be able. The fact we have to do this at all is shameful.

Stop cuts to disability benefits | Sense

The government is planning to cut disability benefits. This could have a devastating impact on disabled people.

We need as many MPs as possible to speak out against disability benefits cuts before they're announced as early as Monday.

Reminds me of my assessment for a stairlift. SW quoting policy: “if you’re not going out to work or education then why do you need to get downstairs?” 🤦‍♀️ it took a long campaign to get the stairlift to, you know - see the downstairs of my house, my garden. unnecessary luxuries apparently

There is a shameful tradition of demonising disabled people. Why is Labour reigniting it? | Frances Ryan Ministers run away from a wealth tax and then concoct a punitive benefits system. They have made that choice and it’s immoral, says Guardian columnist Frances Ryan

“Every time you see a headline on “the cost of the benefits bill”, what you are really reading is “the cost of disabled people”.
