A glorious return to Soil Hill for the week!
I hoped for some Whooper Swan action, and I got some with birds distantly on Mixenden Reservoir!
But the show was very much stolen by this handsome male Ring Ouzel, my 1st March record here!
The Hill never disappoints!

Hard to work out just how many Bonaparte's Gulls in Cornwall in recent weeks, as not all photographed.
This 1w bird near Heliport today Penzance.

ROSS'S GULL at Ganavan Sands mid-day today! I am in disbelief! After failing to find a White Billed Diver that had been reported, we decided as a last resort to go to Ganavan. As I was scanning a small white-winged gull flew though the frame...

After almost two decades of decline, Europe's only regular wintering flock of Ring-billed Gull has shown a welcome recovery in numbers this winter:
Ad. Bonaparte’s Gull today at Copperhouse, Cornwall (8th March ‘26). One of at least three birds in the county, plus same or another 1w at R. Plym yesterday.

Inspiration for inland birders further north/east this spring, seems to have been a decent arrival of Ring-billed & Bonaparte’s Gull in the west this winter?!
Finding a 1st winter Bonaparte's Gull on The Plym wasn't on my radar this morning but it was a very nice surprise, my first in Plymouth #devonbirds
Would have been hard to not use a foot to get there...
Monster!

Do you have any open tail pics of you Lesser Whitethroat? Interested in the halimodendri ID? (Not saying it isn’t one, just curious!) cheers
A very wet day for our @yorkscoastnature.bsky.social Winter Wetlands tour in the Lower Derwent Valley, but these gorgeous Barnacle Geese with 320+!! White-fronted Geese at North Duffield Carrs really brightened our morning. Nice find by Tim Jones

Bishopthorpe Parish Council want to sell a small wildlife oasis hosting rare wildflowers like Yellow Star-of-Bethlehem to a developer. This field belongs to the people of Bish who cherish its wildlife. Please sign this petition to stop them doing this. Thanks 😊 c.org/syGKBRcGBY
Now at least 380! Quick estimate, someone want to count better from video?
Pulled up to scan a goose flock at North Duffield, could hear WFronts as I was setting up the scope, only to realise whole flock was WFronts, at least 307 with some out of view, also 2 Barnacle Geese, best viewed from along path to Garganey Hide @birdguides.bsky.social @yorkbirding.bsky.social

Attention birders! @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social have launched an urgent appeal to protect the Little Tern colony, one of the most successful in the UK. An unexpected funding gap means they need funds sharpish - a few quid goes a long way!

Yorkshires only Little Tern colony relies on paid wardens to protect them from predators and disturbance, the team have achieved amazing numbers of fledglings in recent years and it would be a great shame if it doesn’t run this year, much appreciated if you can help out with this funding gap 🙏

Is that an assumed repair bill or actual quote?
Anyone know of a good spot to photograph Jays relatively close to York please? 🙏
