It’s not often I get a chance to draw some fun tropical birds. Huge thanks to @audubon.org for the excellent assignment. The great green macaw (Ara ambiguus) is the first of 5 birds I illustrated for an article in the latest spring issue.

Had a lot of fun working on this subalpine fir (Abies lasiocarpa) cone sticker design for the Completely Arbortrary Podcast's Cone Club (Sign up and get a new tree cone/flower sticker every month. Each design is created by different actual artist).

Carpenter's Chameleon (Kinyongia carpenteri)
Just finished up a third species, native to the high-elevation montane forests on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Would love to see one IRL.

Impatiens runssorensis
Another recent commission. Runssorensis is a wild impatiens species, endemic to the Rwenzori Mountains on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Dusky Crimsonwing
A recent watercolor commission. It's always fun getting to paint a bird species from afar. This estrildid finch is native to the montane forests of the Albertine Rift in east-central Africa. And I have to admit, red and black is my favorite color combo to rock, too.

Sea otters help protect kelp forests by snacking on sea urchin populations that would otherwise overgraze kelp.
