First native bee of the year! Habropoda laboriosa! This little male is out visiting some of the tiniest flowers. This is the first time he's seen me, and I didn't have time to get him used to my presence to get more refined photos.

Chronic health issues can make cooking some of my favorite meals.....just not in the cards. But I got to make this recently and it was so rewarding!

She's so precious! I tried to give her water on a cotton swab. 🤣 Absolutely not. She did a full threat display, bit it, and jumped away after stomping on it

Seems the spider was freezing and for some reason kicked out of it's burrow. So I've got it in a temporary enclosure with some critter soil, sand, coconut husk, and pine straw. It's too cold for her to be active enough to dig a new burrow outside.

Sometimes, when you put feels out in the universe, She listens. We've got 2 Geolycosa on museum grounds but I've only been able to get obscure shots of them in the tunnels. Yesterday, I met a local lady who brought me this beautiful young Geolycosa!

This is a Chorisoneura texensis roach. They don't infest and they're often found when I harvest pine needles or yaupon for tea
