So much pain in the extended outlook for Alaska. Everything after day 6 or 7 is incredibly warm and there is no end in sight. It will be a brutal first half of December around here. This map shows the probability of being 10F above normal on Dec 6th. @alaskawx.bsky.social

Snow returns to the northern mountains, but not until next week. Best chance for accumulation will be Tuesday through Thursday morning. Up to 6" in the northern mountains, higher across mountain peaks. The San Juans in SW Colorado could see 24"+.

Protecting the Caja del Rio With history underfoot and on rock faces, retreats for wildlife, and chances for a spiritual reprieve, the Caja del Rio makes a case for itself as a treasure to cherish.

But this is a place that is crucial to wildlife and beloved by a diverse array of people. “Earth people have to work together as stewards of the land,” Toledo says. “That’s why we’re here.”

Torrey House Press | FOUNTAIN CREEK by Jim O'Donnell From its headwaters high up Colorado’s legendary Pike’s Peak to suburban concrete-lined canals, Fountain Creek has endured nearly everything humans could do to a single watershed. It has been dammed, ...

“Fountain Creek takes us on a fascinating tour of an abused and unassuming stream, fed by the effluent of cities and carrying with it centuries of human history. Jim O’Donnell reminds us that...water still flows and wildness persists.”
