Stan Rogers - The Mary Ellen Carter
Stan Rogers - The Mary Ellen Carter YouTube video by MinistryofStabbing

In tough times, Stan Rogers sang of perseverance. Of hope.

Worth a listen. 🇨🇦

“And you, to whom adversity has dealt the final blow
With smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go
Turn to, and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain
And, like the Mary Ellen Carter, rise again”

Spadina-Fort York independent MP Kevin Vuong not seeking re-election Independent Toronto MP Kevin Vuong has announced that he’s not running for a second term.

Good riddance! Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Kevin Vuong! Meanwhile, hope Spadina-Harbourfront voters vote Norm in this time around. #cdnpoli #elxn45 #NDP #LPC www.cp24.com/local/toront...

This is Frank. He is the perfect example of why golden retrievers don't make good guard dogs. But they make wonderful welcome committees. 13/10 (TT: accordingtobelieve)

They stayed silent because it wasn’t their problem. That’s how injustice wins, not by force, but by the quiet approval of those who look away.

The system doesn’t need to break you. It just needs you to do nothing while it breaks others. And when it’s your turn, no one will be left to fight for you.

Hello lovely Americans, here’s my pitch to you.

Don’t talk about how Canadians and Europeans can save America from ourselves because we can’t do it.

They’re not here for that. They’re here to save themselves from us.

They can’t arrest thousands of you, now can they? Or will these United States born out of rebellion from this very autocratic rule just buckle under fear? He will not bend to your rule of law! You still have the right to protest in the America we know! Force his hand! #LetsGoAmerica 🇺🇸

Remember learning about this guy? Mahatma Gandhi led many national strikes and acts of civil disobedience in India to protest British rule until they eventually gained their independence and self rule. It was a non violent movement. Be the change you want to see in the world.

As a Canadian, it’s of some comfort to see US lawyers defending the rule of law. Is anyone else even bothering?

The ABA rejects efforts to undermine the courts and the legal profession Three weeks ago, the American Bar Association spoke to you about values that guide us. We called upon every lawyer to insist that the government adhere to four major principles of law that have guided...

“Clients have the right to access their lawyer without interference by the government. Lawyers must be free to represent clients and perform their ethical duty without fear of retribution.”

Opinion | Warning to law firms: Stand up for the rule of law while you can One by one, Trump is fencing in all his potential opponents. Now he’s sending a clear warning to lawyers to back off.

“Warning to Big Law: those who fail to stand up while they can for the rule of law may rue its erosion and regret their silence.” Trump’s petty retribution violates the 1st and 6th amendments, but it still takes guts to ignore his threats and act honorably.

@ianhanomansing.bsky.social this is a really bad take on an existential threat against Canada. “Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?” vibes. Yikes.

@ianhanomansing.bsky.social & the CBC:

Who is making you think this is the most responsible way to address a threat to Canada’s existence as we know it?

Why are you not instead doing a show on the reality of what that might mean and all the reasons we DON’T want to be 51?

My dudes 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Message to Doug Ford

It only takes a minute to let Doug Ford know he needs to cancel the Starlink deal! Link below.

Canada is vulnerable to being played like the next Ukraine.

Doesn’t matter if you’re an Ontario citizen, it will affect you anyway.

And if you use Starlink yourself privately, better think twice.
