I feel very inadequate when it comes to wrapping my gifts. This is really lovely, and I'm sure it makes the gift feel extra special. Thanks for sharing.

Well said. I've been valuing simpler rhythms these days, and the afghan gives me the chance to play with color, which delights me.
Ouch. Hugs.

The green scarf I had started is a brilliant design by Lucy Hague. Maybe someday I'll have a more adventurous appetite once again.
Bain is a gorgeous scarf with celtic style cables on both sides of the fabric, shown here with a little over a foot of knitting completed in green. After adding a few rows each spring, I have decided to repurpose the yarn for the blanket underneath. The rhythm was not for me at this time, though it is a brilliant design.
I haven't had the heart to rip out the scarf in the foreground, so I simply broke the yarn and began adding to the blanket. I should have enough of this green to fill in eight dominoes between the petals already worked in darker shades of green. Shown in the foreground is the intricate green scarf. Behind is the Domino Star Stashbuster Afghan with eight dark points completed and a new green one in progress between two dark petals.
A star-shaped afghan made of radiating rings of elongated diamonds moves from orange to yellow to green with light grey accents. A medium green petal is being added to the star near the top of the photo, and next to it a corner of the previously mentioned scarf simulates a second petal in the new color.
For green ๐ week at #ShowMeYourKnits how about an update on last week's entry:
I took the opportunity to do a rare thing and call quits on a couple longstanding projects, and today I add another to the rip list as I move forward with my Domino Star #Stashbuster Afghan.

I usually really enjoy working brioche; I think the sheer size of the pattern with multiple charts felt like it would take more bandwidth than I was willing to put out. For me, brioche feels like lace mesh in its rhythm, and that's a comforting rhythm for me.
They're both lovely designs, though one's skill lies largely in pattern following and the other in sheer perseverance.
RIP to the gorgeous Sylvan Tales Shawl. A two-tone green brioche knit shawl with leafy shapes creeping in at the edges
This Domino Star Stashbuster Afghan, started in 2017, starts with an 8-pointed star motif. Surrounding the center are concentric rings of garter stitch petals of elongated metered squares. The colors slowly move from orange and yellow to green as the star flower builds outward. A stitch marker indicates the newest addition.
Another couple #WhatsOnYourNeedles for #ShowMeYourKnits
I thought i might be up for some brioche, but returning to the first pattern overwhelmed me a bit, and I decided I didn't need a leafy triangular shawl. It's officially off the list.
I worked a domino on the stashbuster blanket today.
Right side of pink or red colorwork motifs of leaves and raccoons worked flat between garter edges. Motifs sourced from AlterKnit and Knit Ovation books.
Wrong side shows stranded colorwork floats. The pink/red is rainbow handspun yarn, and the plan is to cast on again and work as a tube.
#ShowMeYourKnits theme this week is #WhatsOnYourNeedles / what are you excited about, looking for inspiration. I'm pulling out several WIPs to see if I can get some momentum going.
I'm starting by ripping out this colorwork sampler, which I've been working flat, knitting backwards on return rows.
When it comes to weather, I actually revel in the grey days. I think I feel oddly validated by them. As a knitter, I have a magic spell to ward off the drear.
Thanks!
For #ShowMeYourKnits sweater week, here is my Two-Timers Club - four sweaters I enjoyed so much that I made them twice. Details in ALT text. Bonus: crochet sweater included!

That sweater brings just the right bit of cheer. My neck of the world has been so grey this week!
A lace blanket in progress, worked in green worsted weight yarn.
Black and white image of a completed Leaves of Grass blanket from 2015. I'm working on my fourth iteration of this pattern by Jared Flood.
A bit late to the game, but my last minute entry for #ShowMeYourKnits lace week is my current Leaves of Grass blanket. Since it's not much to look at yet, I give you a view of the same pattern when I worked it in 2015.
You can get the Rum Runner pattern on sale through Sunday. It's a lovely hat that I may likely knit again. I'm an admirer of Thea's designs, particularly for her use of texture and cables, and this is a really nice one.

In May I test knitted a hat pattern for @theacolman.bsky.social
Sadly, the yarn being considered for the design went out of production before the pattern was released. This really is a big setback. Yarn choice sometimes paralyzes me in the design process, so hats off to Thea for her perseverance!
A woman holding up a blanket that is about 53" showing a large black and white chicken with a chicken wire background.
Back of the chicken blanket has fabric with white and brown eggs and fabric with bacon and eggs.
Short green socks with chickens just under the cuff and yellow toes with white making them look like sunny side up.
This week's #showmeyourknits is all about animals. My daughter keeps chickens so I'm always happy to knit some! Epic blanket www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... and the cutest socks www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... ๐งถ #knitting #knitsky

A garter stitch glove being knit in handspun yarn with colors reminiscent of the aurora borealis.
So I did get to try them out in light wind, and they were pretty great. The only spot that seemed to let air in was at the crook of the thumb, which could be closed up with a bit of care. They've been quick and fun and useful; I could see them being great gifts. I just started a pair in handspun.
I haven't gotten to try them in wind. I don't think the seams would let air through, but maybe the overall fabric might? I'm using them for driving / cleaning ice off the car.
Yes, I whipstitched them, I believe. It worked really well, though it takes just settling in for the long ride.
Gonna follow suit with a last minute alphabet sequence cheat for my latest FO.

Six different yarn samples, all but one a blend of two or three colors of wool
Three yarn samples. On the left is yellow-magenta knit into i-cord, on the right is yellow-raspberry/pink, and the center uses all three colors
A magenta-periwinkle blend yarn being worked on double point needles into i-cord
Two yarns, blending periwinkle with yellow or green, respectively. The colors haven't blended much and at this close range appear distinct.
Better photos. I've started knitting i-cord to sample the #handspun yarn samples.
