With the labs of @cellarchlab.com , @chgenoud.bsky.social , and @stearnslab.bsky.social , we revealed the mammalian centriole Distal Ring architecture by combining #UExM and in situ #CryoET.
Big congrats to @ebertiaux.bsky.social and all involved.
Come to be our colleague! Center of Paris, excellent facilities, research spanning the whole range of basic and biomedical life science topics, enthusiastic and collaborative colleagues, crème brûlée every Friday... What else could one want?
So called microtubule organizing centers (MTOCs) are not "organizing centers". They don't control their position (network center), nor MT orientation, length and shape (network shape). The actual organizers are MTs, molecular motors and regulators of MT +ends. MTOCs nucleate MTs.
Let's rename MTOCs.

Schreiner, Mikeladze-Dvali et al. @lifescimunich.bsky.social show that CDK-1 primes PCMD-1 for PLK-1 phosphorylation. Mutations in PLK-1 docking sites impair SPD-5 binding, destabilize the PCM, and delay #centriole separation. rupress.org/jcb/article/...
