So many of the laughs are from the shock of the surreal that it's impossible to recapture that as they're so memorable (and quotable).

Also, not a film, but Blackadder is another one.
I'd quite like to bring back the name popinjay for parrots.

A four-panel comic strip by Cryptid Club. Panel 1: A small, brown, horned monster with large, googly eyes asks, "Have you heard the legend of Mothman?" Panel 2: The monster continues, "He only appears to humans before a disaster." A small white ghost floating nearby replies, "Woah!" Panel 3: A woman with long red hair holds a pair of scissors to her forehead in front of a mirror, smiling. She says, "These bangs are gonna be so cute!" Panel 4: As the woman prepares to cut her hair, the silhouette of Mothman with glowing red eyes appears in the window behind her, signaling the impending "disaster."

That Sight & Sound issue is a particularly great find, it usually goes for quite a bit. It was my first introduction to the world of what's now called folk horror.

Painting depicting a dark haired woman in a long, black dress wearing a small, red flower in her hair. She is reaching out to an owl who is perched on what's left of a white tree. A crescent moon is in the sky between them. A small cloud sits just above the woman's head.

I could be really obvious and say The Wicker Man, and that is indeed a strong contender, but I'd actually go for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I did the classic thing of watching it so many times when younger I know it all now so it would be wonderful to be surprised and laugh afresh.

The Bloody Ploughman apple is named after a Scottish tale of a ploughman who's shot dead for stealing apples from an estate. When his body is returned to his wife, she tosses the blood-stained apples he stole, and they sprout into a tree that grows blood-red apples. #FairyTaleTuesday

What I've read of Blackwood I loved, some of my favourite weird tales, but I don't think I've read any of the stories included in this so it'll be great to discover them.

Mervyn Peakeβs illustration of tower in front of castle, landscape.
βThis tower, patched unevenly with black ivy, arose like a mutilated finger from among the fists of knuckled masonry and pointed blasphemously at heaven. At night the owls made of it an echoing throat; by day it stood voiceless and cast its long shadow.β ~

Ghosts, Vampires, Werewolves, and all manner of high strangeness abound in these beautifully illustrated books. I missed out on these at the time, sadly. Anyone for reprints?
