Listen to what @petitecreature1.bsky.social is saying here. Not just the bit about how good @iambapoet.com is for poets looking to bring their words vividly to life, but also to the really important part about auditions being open RIGHT NOW (and for only the next five days).

A poem I posted over at The Bad Place for Top Tweet Tuesday this week! ‘Phoenix’ was first published by the Poets Directory in 2021, and then in the collaborative anthology ‘Sea Between Us’ from Nine Pens Press in 2022.

Haha, maybe! I don’t feel like I’ve done that much really, but I’m glad if what I have done has made a difference :)

Word of the day is most definitely ‘hurkle-durkling’ (19th-century Scots): to linger in bed long after it’s time to get up.

Lovers of #ekphrastic #poetry will find this a very satisfying read. A powerful, punchy sonnet from @seanaaburke.bsky.social - Medusa gets the last word!

I still think the opening poem of my third collection, Imagined Sons (Seren, 2014), is one of the best I've written. tinyurl.com/awvfe39f

A wild poppy, growing solo on beach dunes, shown top-down. It's red around the centre zeppelin-stamen, then a pink fadeout to white at the papery edges of floppy, rounded petals. Strong shadows of the stems of other foliage, possibly tussock lines, stripe her face. Green tangles and pale sand blur below.

Unlike cynicism, hopefulness is hard-earned, makes demands upon us, and can often feel like the most indefensible and lonely place on Earth. Hopefulness is not a neutral position either. It is adversarial. It is the warrior emotion that can lay waste to cynicism.

Mark Antony Owen - Christmas 24 | Mysite Home

I very much enjoyed this interview. Mark discusses his 9 syllabic forms (a first!) and we’re also treated to a fine selection of his poems, including the Pushcart Prize nominated ‘Conkers’.
