Curaçao update: our team is studying the overlooked world of bat and bird pollination.
In Curaçao, we survey flower-visiting insects, bats and birds to strengthen knowledge of plant–pollinator interactions in the Dutch Caribbean: butterfly-europe.eu/curacao-nl/

Look for nesting bees. Report your sitings on the nests of ground-nesting to better understand them.
In an ideal world, yes, but for most countries that's a long way off and we need action on different fronts.

Major new European research project... [a] citizen science initiative called EuroBeeSoil: "If you spot a bee nest in soil, sand, a lawn, a path edge or a sunlit bank, you can photograph it and upload your record to iNaturalist" 🐝❤️
👩🔬 You are a citizen scientist who wants to contribute to the conservation of ground-nesting bees?

Why should the #legal profession care about #pollinator decline? Because #pollinators sit right at the intersection of #biodiversity loss, food security, business risk, and emerging regulation. Read more about my recent article on this topic here: jeffollerton.co.uk/2026/04/02/p...

No pollinators, no food? 🐝🌍 Around 75% of global crops depend on pollination. As pollinators decline, food security, farmer livelihoods & SDG 2: Zero Hunger are at risk.

What China’s mountain meadows and forests can teach us about #pollinators.
In a newly published paper led by Dr Xin Xu, we have studied pollination networks on Yulong Snow Mountain in Yunnan. Discover more about our findings here:

At the end of March and the end of May I will be presenting two webinars which explore the connections between, #biodiversity, #pollinators and the #UNSDGs, showing why the conservation of nature is central to a just, healthy, and sustainable future - details here: jeffollerton.co.uk/2026/03/23/j...
Last week I posted a #preprint entitled “The global relationship between flowering plant and #pollinator diversity holds true across scales, latitude, and human influence”.
I was not prepared for what happened after it went live on 2nd March! Read more here:

A new UK government report warns that global #biodiversity loss threatens food security, economic stability, and geopolitical order. In my latest blog post I ask whether pollination should now be considered a #nationalsecurity issue:

⚡🦋 Electrostatic pollination by butterflies and moths
Butterflies and moths accumulate electrostatic charge as they fly, allowing them to pull pollen grains off flowers without even touching them. In other words, they can literally attract pollen through the air.
