Now that’s a splendid idea, I’ll have to try that. 😀

Now that is soul destroying, completely lost touch with why they started birding in the first place. I’ve experienced it a few times myself. Pale legged leaf warbler was terrible, didn’t enjoy the Flamboro Red headed bunting either.

That’s some going 😳
Do you mean the way that twitchers were behaving to see the bird or something completely different?
If I make it to 300 UK I’ll a happy chap

It feels rude to ask someone’s life list but that’s hell of a list of counties to be fair. I’ve never seen so many birds on the UK list but it’s nice to have something to aim for

Oh no, definitely not. I enjoy visiting new places but unless there’s a lottery win 🤞
I’m sure it is better late than never but I can understand what you’re saying. I look at all the young birders at places like Spurn and wonder what took me so long

You’ve got 4 years on me then.
Is there an English county you’re yet to go birding in?

Aah, that would explain the first bird alert. I thought someone had just got the site wrong when sending it.
Thanks Dawn.

Seeing Bee-eaters was your introduction to birding? 😳

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

Yes, I’m very much a novice 😊
Ouch! That’s not a claim to fame you’d be shouting from the rooftops

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

I didn’t know it’s previous site. Where was that?

Thanks Dawn.

Happy to have reminded you of that 😁 I never knew either were such a regular occurrence there. It’s a big old place.

It really was, would love to see them in full breeding attire. The close views weren’t what I’d expected for my first black throated.

Firecrest at Spurn

Firecrest at Spurn

Ever increasing winds didn’t dampen a good day at Spurn yesterday. Wheatear and Firecrest were nice additions to the year list. The Firecrest at Pancho’s pond showing well for all comers

A Black-necked grebe away from BNGmania

Early finish Friday gave time to take a train/bus & walk to St Aidan’s and have a look at the beautiful Black-necked grebes assembling there. 7 of them having a right old scuffle at one point.

Thanks for that Matt, it had never even crossed my mind. I did notice some difference in the bill colouration but I never thought of putting 2 & 2 together
