Past few days given some nice NFY #moths; on Formby Beach we found a Garden Tiger #caterpillar and a few Ruby Tiger adults, and a #MothTrap last night gave a Lunar Marbled Brown and a Muslin #Moth. Maybe tonight's trap in the woods will add to the list?

Ah cool thank you! I've got some 10% KOH for moth dissections, would that work for this Wesmaelius too?

ALS - Anglian Lepidopterist Supplies Moth trap manufacturers. mains moth traps portable moth traps. pheromone lures

It's the EMP lure from angleps.com. I'd recommend first going to areas where they are known to occur, which tend to be open areas with lots of Heather. Deploying it for a max of 30 mins in these areas on a warm & slight breezy day should net some (although that day was incredibly windy!). Good luck!

On the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool and there are biblical-level swarms of Meligethes pollen beetles. Anyone know why this could be? Also worried people might mistake them for flies and think I smell bad ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

To anyone who knows about #Neuroptera: I reared this #lacewing from a cocoon I found under a log. I've used Plant's key to get to #Wesmaelius and then saw it was a gen det job. Firstly, am I looking at the anal plates of the female, and if so is it W. subnebulosus? Thanks!

Had a great walk around Macclesfield Forest today. Brought out the EMP lure & despite being incredibly windy, had 3 Emperor #Moths to it within 5 mins. NFY, & truly amazing species I'd happily see every day. A new favourite of my girlfriend, as well.
