A landscape photo of a frozen lake at sunset. The sky is mostly blue with some wispy clouds, and a strong orange from the sunset nearer to the horizon, which illuminates some of the clouds and also reflects off the frozen surface of the lake, which has recently iced over and is not yet covered in snow. Across the horizon are trees and low mountains, silhouetted against the sunset light.
the last light of day reflecting off a frozen lake, inviting one to also reflect on the events of the day

A photograph of a lake shortly after sunset. There are clouds spread across the sky, illuminated orange and pink from below by the setting sun. The clouds and colours are reflected in the lake, taking up the bottom half of the image, which is mostly still. At the horizon, a thin band of low mountains and trees are silhouetted, also reflecting off the lake.
would you look at that

A photography of a lake shortly after sunset. The sky cloudy, with the cloudy illuminated red/pink towards the horizon. The lake takes up much of the lower half of the photo, and the surface is turbulent in the wind, but the sky colours still reflect off it. At the horizon trees and low mountains are silhouetted against the sky.
It's been a little bit, but the nice sunsets have returned

A photography of a lake shortly after sunset. The sky is clouded towards the horizon, and lit up red, magenta and orange in the sunset light. This light is fairly evenly spread across the sky, fading to a light blue, and is reflected in the surface of the lake, which is mostly flat. At the horizon, a thin band of low mountains and trees are silhouetted, also reflecting off the lake. In the bottom corners branches from bushes are seen reaching out.

So, 1 year ago today, after spending the previous (entire) night at Blanchetown enjoying my first big aurora, I headed out again. This time to Eudunda. And it was even better than the night before! Just incredible! I'll never forget it.
ah yes, I see you haven't stopped, though I assume the posts in winter months are backlogs? for my part, a couple of brilliant sunsets (and also, the return of warmer weather) inspired me to come back and give it another shot!
Group of Bleeding Fairy Helmet mushrooms (Mycena haematopus) in varying growth stages on aspen woodpile; conical pinkish-brown caps with lighter scalloped edges; stems paler in colour with pruinose appearance in upper half; very light spotting of red latex along margins.
They just look so proud to be mushrooms ๐๐ท

Half Bonnet mushroom (Hemimycena) growing attached to the end of small, fallen piece of wild rose plant; white cap now flattened from original conical shape, stem is white in upper half and off white in lower part; a member of the Bonnet family, this mushroom prefers bits of plant debris as a host and typically requires microscopy to determine the exact species ID.
Not a Bonnet, but a Half Bonnet ๐๐ท

Pair of Bonnet (Mycena) mushrooms with a very small Katydid nymph sitting atop one; the Bonnets are conical shaped and flattening, light gray-brown with darker striations and umbo, stem is dark and slender. The Katydid nymph is bright green and very small, but mimics the adult form of a Bush Cricket.

all of nature sings together if you take the time to stop and listen. and of course, are in the right spot at the right time!
it was quite the colour!
Spring Pinkgill mushroom (Entoloma vernum) - dark brown, conical shaped cap with a silky appearance atop a stem of similar colour. Genus contains a complex number of groups and species, many of which were previously considered Nolanea, but DNA studies have resulted in a number of taxon changes (this species often referred to as Nolanea verna prior to these changes). The name Pinkgill refers to the pink coloured spores found in these mushrooms.

Hey Ann! nice to see you're still shooting all these lovely mushrooms! hopefully I'll start seeing them here soon as well ๐
Lava erupting through the air from the crater of a volcano. You can see the black lava rim, lots of orange lava with red bits flying, and some reddish smoke above.
The weekend starts here!
Memories of watching erupting hot lava flying through the air, back in #Iceland in May 2021...
whoa, thanks everyone for all the love on this! I really do appreciate it ๐
thanks!
been feeling really lucky to see all these incredible sunsets lately, and I'm happy to share them with other people, I'm glad you all appreciate them too!
er, well, I'd rather not dox myself, so I'm not gonna be too specific, but it's in Canada

Cocky bird with bright yellow breast with a black V is standing on a fence post with beak wide open singing loudly. Background is soft focus brown field with heat shimmer.
Wind was roaring in my ears, but the song of this western meadowlark pierced through clear as a bell. What a sound! He was so far away, but even with the distance and the heat shimmer, the beauty shines through ๐ #birds ๐ฟ
A photograph of a lake shortly after sunset. The sky is mostly covered in clouds, largely blue-gray in colour, but towards the center and above the horizon the clouds are lit up a vivid orange in the sunset light, which stretches towards the top of the frame. The colours are reflected in the lake, taking up the bottom half of the image, which is mostly still. At the horizon, a thin band of low mountains and trees are silhouetted, also reflecting off the lake.

A photograph of a skyscape taken shortly after sunset after a storm had passed through. There are clouds spread across the sky, illuminated yellow, orange and pink from below. At the horizon some low mountains are silhouetted, and a lake is visible at the bottom, reflecting the sunset light.

Here's the footage I've been trying to get for at least 2 years:
A wood duckling.
Someone posted to here there are photography friendly wood ducklings in Eureka, CA where you can use reeds as blinds.
I knew there had to be somewhere within 600 miles.
Yesterday 10 were reported. 1 survived. ๐ชถ ๐ฃ
