Stunning detail. I bought some Meike metal mount extension tubes for my OM1 recently when I saw you mention them. Really good quality for under 30 quid so thanks for that.

Obscure fact - only female wasps have the ability to sting.

Same squirrel, slightly different angle.

A Squirrel with a fine set of whiskers. Taken today in the garden. They visit the feeders on our walnut tree which is only around 15 feet from the back door.

Best of luck. I'm still suffering from surgery 35 years ago to "fix" what was almost certainly an allergy.

No Ravens where I live unfortunately so I'm quite envious and yes, they are truly magnificent.

My first camera with an Electronic View Finder (EVF) and pleasantly surprised that when I adjust the exposure using the front wheel on my OM1 the EVF replicates it. I wasn't aware of that and it's a really interesting and useful feature.

2 of the local Rooks on the overhead electricity wires.

Strong backlighting needed +2EV to get detail.

Awesome beak but if you use it for digging up food and defending yourself it makes sense to a have a big pointy one I guess.

Theme is
#JKLMNOP, any bird that has these letters at the beginning of their 1st or 2nd names or Urban so a Jackdaw on a domestic feeder ticks both boxes.
They do love a suet ball, they'd only been out for 10 minutes before they descended on them.

A little tip I got from chef Tom Kerridge - pop the egg (in its shell) into the hot water for about 10 - 15 seconds before cracking and popping them in the water. That helps to stop the egg from "spreading" in the water.

I've used a Sigma EX 300mm F/2.8 for years with a 2x converter but the weight with a body (Nikon D3S) is 3.8Kg! Old age and rheumatoid arthritis has pushed me into OM Systems and their 100-400mm gives me a massive 800mm reach - body and lens 1.8Kg. The difference means I'm now taking photos again.

It not only gets rid of Viktor Orban but also his odious little sidekick, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó who is one of Putin's close associates.

Grey squirrel doing some nest/drey maintenance today, collecting soft grass for the lining. Amazing how much they can fit in their mouths.

Scottish red squirrel standing on a weathered fence rail eating a nut. Very erect and splendid tail with small tufted wet ears and wet feet.

I've taken hundreds of pictures of red squirrels over the years, all in Scotland and I'll post one from time to time.
This one was taken with a Nikon D700 and a 420mm lens (300mm + 1.4X converter) leaning on the bonnet of my car.
I love them, they're so photogenic.

Recently fledged wood pigeon resting on an old window ledge. Full flight feathers but still has a lot of down on its chest and neck so it looks very scrawny.

Juvenile wood pigeon in the UK

This one could fly but I've raised 2 that fell out of nests and found in the garden over the years. They are a prolific species despite being dreadful parents.

It's a very quiet day in my IT world so I've been taking pictures.
The Rook, last in line when they handed out the glamour but very intelligent.
We have a rookery just a short distance from the house and this one came and raided the feeders today.

The chimney dwelling Jackdaw.

They nest in the neighbours chimney every year, fortunately they don't have a fire or a wood stove so no drama.

I'm exploring the focus stacking function on my new camera which should be great for macro shots.

Unfortunately, the ladybird didn't get the memo to keep still 🤣

#BirdOfTheDay #Grass & #BirdButt a recent one.

We have a pair of Partridges who visit every evening, the female is shy but the male runs to within 6 feet of me now expecting a handful of seed.

He's very handsome though so he always gets fed.

The evidence exists, apparently, that she is talking through her clenched arse.

Just like the USA and elsewhere, people with 3 teeth voting for people with 10 houses whose policies are bought and paid for by billionaires. It seems to be a modern day societal quirk.
Hopefully Hungary will buck the trend this weekend and vote that twat Orban out of power.
