1/3 Pollutants don't stay in the water. In San Diego, we showed they become a previously unrecognized source of air pollution. Once inhaled, toxic chemicals and airborne pathogens have been linked to cancer, heart attacks, and dementia. As water pollution rises globally, this is everyone's problem.

It's STILL a pandemic (WHO has not ended it). Also, COVID is NOT a respiratory virus - it is AIRBORNE virus. Two different things.

TBC, COVID is vaccine-reduceable NOT preventable. VE against hosp '24-'25 was only ~44% (NACI). Tired of this dishonesty. #MaskUP FFS!

Two things that are both true: It is still important to test for COVID-19. False negatives on at-home COVID-19 tests* are common. *Also called home tests, rapid tests, antigen tests, and rapid antigen tests

False negatives on COVID-19 tests are common, so it’s important to test again if your test is negative. False negatives (test results saying you don’t have COVID when you actually do) are common. If you have symptoms but test negative, test again at least one more time, 48 hours later.

If you test positive, there’s no need to test again. False positives (tests saying you have COVID when actually don’t) are extremely rare.

It is still important to test so you can get the treatment you need. COVID-19 treatments are available for some people who are eligible, and they can significantly reduce your risk of hospitalization and death.

If you’re sick but can’t test (or retest): Get plenty of rest, avoid spreading it to others, and talk to your doctor if needed. If you’re feeling sick but don’t have access to testing, it’s still important to give your body time to get better, and avoid spreading illness to others. Stay home as much as you’re able & get plenty of rest to allow your body to a chance to fully recover.

Avoid others as much as possible (and remember, nobody wants illness spread to them even if it’s not COVID-19), and wear a mask if you have to be around others.

What I’d NEVER do as a brain injury rehab doctor:

• Motorcycle
• Tackle football (for my kids)
• Ignore BP
• Skip helmets
• Normalize repeat COVID infections

Because I take care of what happens next.

Cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths Limited testing and challenges in the attribution of cause of death mean the confirmed case and death counts may not reflect the true counts.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 since 2020 — over 779 million worldwide

Confirmed ‘reported’ deaths — over 7.11 million

Interesting article on a cohort of celebrities that represent a specific generation (my generation - GenX/Xennials) bearing the brunt of post-COVID health consequences/premature mortality. Esp. interesting is the discussion of cognitive biases at work on all of us that normalize this level of loss.

New COVID-19 variant.
Same protection. Wear masks. High-quality masks like N95 and KN95s (these are also called respirators) offer the most protection. Use the best available to you! Keep clean air. COVID-19 infects others most commonly when it is breathed in through the air. Keeping clean, well-ventilated air with open windows and air purifiers lowers the amount of virus in the air and reduces your chances of getting sick! Get vaccinated. Even when new variants develop, vaccines can help protect you from serious illness and death from COVID-19!

Wear the best mask available to you, keep indoor air clean, & stay up to date on vaccines to protect yourself & others from infection & serious illness from COVID-19!

And will continue to mask because there’s not a single scientific study that says I shouldn’t.
