Drought mitigation in plants through root exudate-mediated rhizosphere interactions: Opportunities for future research - ScienceDirect •The study showed the role of root exudate in drought stress mitigation. •In drought conditions, increased naringenin and daidzein in exudates to attract diazotrophic bacteria. •Proteoid roots enhance surface area, carboxylic acid release, and phosphorus uptake in drought conditions. •The HvAACT1 gene aids citrate exudation at root apex, boosting elongation of root in drought conditions. •This study is useful in formulating strategies for sustainable environment management.

Technical assistant in soil ecology 80-100% (f/m/d)
You will participate in a research project on soil biodiversity in forest sites of the Swiss National Forest Inventory. You will carry out laboratory work (measurements of abiotic soil properties) and organize and archive soil samples. You will collect, document and manage data and metadata of soil chemical and soil biological parameters and help with processing of amplicon sequencing data.
You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, environmental, natural or soil sciences with a focus on microbiology and/or ecology. You have experience with general biological and biogeochemical laboratory procedures. You are comfortable with curating and managing datasets and samples. Experience with bioinformatic analysis of next-generation sequencing data is a plus. You have good communication and organisational skills and are fluent in German and English, which will help you to communicate in an international team of scientists and technicians. Working independently, flexibly and accurately is a strength, as is working in a team.
