These “I voted for him three times and I was lied to!” or “Guess I’m an idiot!” posts are pure SEO grift.

Schadenfreude sells in the attention economy and stories generally. They want clicks from progressives and leftists: disenfranchised, scrolling, with very little hope on the horizon.

As for what happened, I feel like it was the 1993ish recession. The stories about what life would be like that we had been told as kids, turned out to be lies. A lot of people still resent that.

Life and society owes us nothing. Even if you grew up believing it does.

It’s been very hot the past two weeks, but other than that, I don’t think it’s been unusual. One other cymbidium has a very short spike, but the rest are normal. It’s in an unheated greenhouse in California.

Back to orchid photos. This is an unusual (to me) cymbidium. The spike is very short, so the flower is right near the bulb. #bloomscrolling #orchids #cymbidium

PseudoPod 1019: Superstition The strangest gig I ever had was fetish destruction. In July of 1995 I answered an ad in a newspaper asking for a reliable messenger and administrative assistant. My interview took place in a…

I just finished listening to this. It’s all fantastic: narration, story, end commentary. Great story.

Two things: reading the Silmarillion and loving the language stuff and taking a History of the German Language course in college.
“Wait. There are multiple Germanic languages spoken in Germany today?!”

The sea air this morning actually smells like the poets say, fresh and slightly briny. It’s fantastic.

Usually it smells like dead fish and seaweed. I guess this is why people like living by the sea.

Jesus that’s a bad idea. I heard of a woman involved in an accident that ended up in the creek, walked to the emergency room, and was dead within 24 hours of sepsis.
(Absolute hearsay).

For me, it’s 2d20 Conan. I recognize that’s me, though. Others see it as too crunchy.
Low prep for me because so much time in other games (*cough* D&D) is taken up preparing and balancing fights. Which is just not necessary in Conan.

It’s going to take decades of hard, kind work to repair. If it even can be.
